General Mach Discussion / Wrong Direction?
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:17:12 AM »
Hi

I am new to CNC and Mach3 and this forum has been a great help.

When I am cutting an image the Mach3 screen shows it cutting in a clockwise direction while the machine is cutting in a counter clockwise direction.

Do I have something set wrong and if so how do I correct it.

Thanks for any help,

Pete

General Mach Discussion / Re: Feed rate
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:00:54 PM »
I realized that right after I posted. I changed the feed rate in notepad and it seems to be doing ok so far.

Thanks for the other info, I will need it most likely someday

Thanks,
Pete

General Mach Discussion / Feed rate
« on: August 20, 2013, 07:43:51 PM »
I am new to cnc and to Mach3.

I have a gcode for an image and the author told me to start the feed rate slow (6.00) and increase as needed.

My machine is set at 6.0 but when I start to run it goes to 150.00

How do I hold it at 6.0

Thanks for any help,

Pete

Thanks for the help.

I have not set the steps yet for I don't know how to. Part of the learning curve.

Can you give me info on doing this.

Pete

Hi:

I am a old school cabinet maker and new to CNC. I bought a entry level cnc router to start.

I have been using Image to Gcode and no matter what size I set the image to be it only machines to about an inch square.

Any help would be great,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Welcome to the forum.

Does the Z axis motor 'lock' (as the X and Y axis motors do) when you apply power to the CNC machine ?

Tweakie.

Tweakie:

Thanks for writing back.

I was configuring it wrong and the Rep from Mach3 helped me out on the phone.

Dumb mistake but I'm a newbie.

General Mach Discussion / Newbie Question
« on: July 22, 2013, 09:35:34 PM »
Hi:
I am a retired carpenter and this my first attempt at CNC.
I bought a 3040T Router Engraver and am haveing trouble setting it up.
I followed a tutorial I found and configered the machine the best I could. I set the pins at X-2-3, Y-4-5 and Z-6-7. When I tested them in the motor tuning they were reversed. I swapted the conectors on the control box and X&Y now work. I can't get Z to work and I think its the pin setting.

No documentation came with the machine for the pins or the settings in motor tuning.

Thanks for any help,

Pete
