You can use the axis calibration feature in Mach. Settings (alt-6 tab) when the screen opens it's located above the reset button.
You will also want to check for backlash once the steps per unit are correct.

I will look at this this evening thanks!!  what is backlash?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Bits not cutting exact width

If you're making cuts that need to be to an exact size with a machine with some flexibility you can get much closer by taking a first cut which leaves enough material for a finishing cut to exact size,

how do you do that?

General Mach Discussion / Bits not cutting exact width

Question.

When I set up a project with pieces that will fit together, the bit I specify in the cut, doesn't cut exactly.  Example.  If i have a project, lets call it a piece together dinosaur using 1/8 exact plywood, using a .0625 exact end mill, cutting on the outside of the line, it is cutting smaller the 1/8 inch.  this happens with all sizes.  1/4,1/2 etc...  when I measure the with of the notch in my program, it is exactly the width it should be.  When cut, it is always smaller.

Help?

Thanks!!

Happy New Year!!

General Mach Discussion / Relay Board
« on: March 29, 2013, 08:49:20 AM »
I got a new controller, the gecko g540.  I also bought a relay board from probotix. I have ticking with this relay board for two weeks.  I cannot get it to work.  So, with that said, i worked last night with probotix tech support (awesome guys) and gecko tech support, come to find out that the relay board from probotix's (and everyone elses i can find) is incompatible with the gecko g540.  The Gecko g540 switches to ground when the output is turned on.  Probotix and other relay boards i found swith to positive voltages (probotix's relay board looks for +5v to trip the relay).

So with that said, without having to build a second set of relays that switchs the voltage around so the probotix relay board will work, (this is what Probotix recommended)  is there any relay boards out there that will work with the g540 without modification???

Here ya go!!

There are (3) Files I am uploading:

Gecko (configured, not working properly)
RG Custom Signs LLC OLD (old file from old drivers and motors)
RG Custom Signs LLC (I took the settings from the old file that worked, and the settings from the new file that worked, and combined the two to see if it would work.  It does, but now i get random "estops".

General Mach Discussion / Gecko g540 Question
« on: March 24, 2013, 11:27:55 AM »
I just installed a gecko g540 and downloaded the xml fromm gecko, however, i am unable to use the "reference all home" any more?  i used to click the "reference all home" and it would "zero" everything out.  now when i click it, it just moves the "Z" axis up?

am i missing something?
