G'day Guys, this one has been doing my head in, I am turning timber fishing lure bodies on my machine, but for some reason small radius's are being produced tighter than they should, and larger radius's are coming out looser. The profile of the lure body is perfect, all measurements are fine it's just the radius's are wrong? Has anyone come across this before in rotary turning? Cheers Paul.

Open Windows Task Manager while the machine is running and monitor CPU usage.
Also, try turning off the toolpath display and see if it helps.
Ok thanks Gerry, I will give that a go. Managed to get rid of 90% of it this morning by fine tuning my Velocity in A Axis, I will see if the other suggestions tidy up the last of it, cheers Paul.

G'day Guys, trialing my 6 head rotary CNC I am just finishing up and I am having a bit of an issue, I am creating my tool paths using Deskproto for continuous rotation as I am cutting with saw blades. During the revolutions on A axis I am getting these slight jerky movements in the same spot on every turn. I thought it maybe something to do with Deskproto but when I run tool paths created in Aspire it did the same thing? If you jog A axis or even while calibrating the axis to set steps per it's not there. Has anyone come across this before? Any help greatly appreciated, cheers Paul.

I can't see how a G code could have changed any of your settings? Go back to the start and re-check your setup again, ports and pins etc, check to see if your E-Stop is enabled? Did you try to jog your motors with the (TAB button) side box?

First thing to check is LPT1 settings on your computer, make sure they are the same as they are in Config/Ports and Pins?

G'day Guys, I am sure it is in the manual somewhere but i can't find it  ::) When I try to change the percentage in the FRO it changes on the screen both lower and higher, but not physically on the machine, also my "Shift" key isn't changing the speed? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, cheers Paul.

Ok so a little more knowledge gained, I was able for the first time to see my 3D tool paths in Mach3 (found un-checked box  ::) ) What is happening is my G Code actually looks fine but I would say motor configs are way out. My rotational stepper motor should obviously revolve my chucks through 360 degrees then return as normal, but what is happening is in Mach3 I see the lure do one revolution (which takes about a minute) while my chucks do around 50 revolutions. So I guess my questions is how do I configure the 4th Axis to be in sync with Mach3? Cheers Paul.

G'day Guys, I am having some issues getting a G code to run in mach3 that was created with a Vectric Aspire Wrapping gadget. The item (a Fishing Lure Body) wraps fine in Vectric, all previews look good, but when I run the G code in Mach3 it doesn't work correctly? It would appear that "A" (my X) is turning the timber through 360mm instead of 360 degrees? I am hoping someone here has had a similar experience when setting up for rotary turning. The machine is a 6 head ground up build made just to produce timber fishing lure bodies. It jogs off the keyboard fine, with X being rotational, Y transverses the carriage and Z as normal. I loaded a simple 2D G code into it and it worked fine, as it does with my standard CNC? Also I am looking for a CAM program that will allow for "continuous rotation" the machine works in a similar manner to this machine in the Youtube video, any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers Paul

What I am getting at is if your safe Z had been set to say -0.5 in machine coords then it would never go to your limit switch as it would always stop 0.5inch before it no matter where you set your material zero.
Also sounds like you have not set up soft limits, might be worthwhile looking at doing that as it would also stop you hitting the limits unintentionally.

Yes that is basically what I have done now, I did not know how to do it, that was the question I had posted. I would love to set soft limits, how do I go about doing that? Thanks, cheers Paul.
