At the moment I'm playing with the X axis
I assume others would work the same
It's a gantry style router and the X axis is moving the gantry left and right
my first question was how to make the gantry physically move the correct direction when I press the right arrow key
I'm using stepper motors to run the machine so it's changing the step direction signal, we already solved that
my question now is how to make the DRO value change in the proper direction
it currently decreases in value when it should increase
I know this is just all software configuration stuff, just couldn't figure it out from the docs
thanks for the help, hope my explanation is clear

Dave

edit: read your post again
I'm playing with the x, positive should be to the right
y+ should be moving away from me and z+ should be up
that gives a right handed coordinate system

ok, progress
now I press the right arrow key and it moves right
but the digital readout counts down when it should count up
how do I change that?
don't worry, I'll get it straight ;)

TIA

Hi Folks

this should be an easy one
newbie here, I've built a cnc wood router and I'm controlling it with Mach3
when I jog the machine with the right arrow key on the keyboard is moves left
how do I change this?
it seems like with my original setup the coordinate system is messed up
I'm sure you fix it with software settings but not quite sure what to change

TIA for advice
Dave

General Mach Discussion / what does "save fixture" mean?
« on: November 01, 2011, 05:30:23 AM »
Hi Folks,

newbie plugin along here
this concerns a home built router
sometimes I see strange behavior from Mach which I'm sure is due to my own lack of understanding but is seems to be trying to trace paths of code I've run earlier.
today I was trying to cut a part for a clock (the pallet) and Mach kept trying to go in circles

I've noticed that sometimes when I exit the program it asks me if I want to "save the fixture", what does that mean?
am I saving something that is going to influence future runs?
if so, how do I erase this information?

Mach3 under Vista / pci parallel port questions
« on: May 26, 2011, 06:29:56 PM »
Hello All

rookie here
trying to get Mach setup and running for a cnc router kit I purchased
my PC is custom built with modern components and doesn't have a parallel port so I bought a pci addon card
in testing to see if I can turn output pins on and off with Mach I have no luck, I suspect I haven't got the port config setting correct
OS is Win7 32 bit, 2 screenshots from the device manager are attached
what should I set the port address to be and do you see any other items I should change?

Any Help Appreciated
Dave
