And I don't have an estop on my machine.  Just the power button.

Thanks again Hood.

We are super behind and this estop triggering came close to making me lose my cookies.  Your quick response was super helpful.  I blew a lot of dust out of the control box and it may have been the cause.  It is all good now.

Thanks again.

It seems to happen in near to the same part of the file.  I cut one side then the other and it is pretty close to the same area on each side.

Same keyboard for the last year but it of course just one year old.  There was a small cover for some wires that had come off.  I am not sure what it is called but it is the bit of plastic that keeps the ribbon secured to a pin connector.  I blew out a lot of dust?  We did have a few power outages a while ago...maybe a surge has damged the switch.

X++ X-- are disable and home is checked so I am pretty sure I have that right.\

Can you disable estop.  I tried but it seems to have enabled again automatically.

No limits on my machine only homing switches...Are they active while cutting

new keyboard...noise is not different than before..

When you say wiring do you mean the homing or limit switches wiriing.

I was going to see if I can shut off an external estop request for now to see.

thanks for the quick reply Hood

Hey Guys,

I just had a weird thing happen.  I got an estop requested when the button was not pressed.  I reset and it did it again.  I reset and it did it a third time but on this third time it reset itself and started moving again.

The controller has a green light through all of this.

Any ideas.  Is it possible that the controller is the issue, Mach or both?

General Mach Discussion / Re: motor settings vs kernel speed

Wow.  Thanks.

Ok well I will try my best to recalculate the steps per and try a new kernel speed.

I get a beautifully straight line on the driver test with a lower setting so I am happy to switch.

Thanks.  I am only in need of .25mm so I am of course fine but I would like to be as accurate as the equipment allows.  Why not be?

I just posted another post with my motor settings but a different question.  Dilligently working through the manuals and tyring to get some help with questions that arise in the mind.

again thanks

General Mach Discussion / motor settings vs kernel speed
« on: April 22, 2012, 05:49:17 PM »
Hey Guys,

I am looking for some input into the Kernel Speed that is best for my setup.  My comp gets the nicest pulse stream at 25khz and 35khz.  At 45khz the line is still reasonable but a bit fuzzy.

When I run a config test mach tells me that I have my kernel speed to high.

What do you guys think.  I have attached screen shots of motor settings and I have attached the config test.  I am currently running these at 45Khz.

If I can run at 35khz and acheive these 15000mm/min then I would.

Thanks

Ok well at least I had that thought for once and so I completely understand the answer.  I am wondering then what is consider high resolution.  As I understand it 200 is max but what is considered high...90 and more?
