I figured it out, added the G49 to the P.P. and it is working fine now.

Thanks

Hood,
If I enter it with MDI it works fine, however when it is running it does not.  I just tried it several times with the same result.  If I add in a G49 like Angel tech suggested it does fix the problem.

I am not sure why the post possessor does not add that in.  Is there a way to edit the P.P. to add the G49 in?

Yes I double checked everything and it has been an ongoing problem.

General Mach Discussion / Tool Change Problem
« on: January 27, 2012, 02:34:21 PM »
This has been an ongoing issue for me and I usually solve it by editing the code.  Today I did a drawing and forgot to edit it, and ended up with a crash.

Say tool #1 is 1” long and tool #2 is 2” long.  When it stops to change to #2 tool, Z goes to the safe Z of tool #1.  Once I change the tool and hit start the Z goes way below the safe height of tool #2 and crashes into the part.  I don’t know if it is a setting I changed in Mach or if I need to edit my post processor.

I am attaching the code I used with the hope that someone may see something I don’t.  I have no issue until it gets to the spotting drill tool #75.

Thanks

Not sure Hood, I don't use one.  I know Ajax sells them but the prices are crazy. I have thought about trying one of the less expensive versions I have read about on this site but have yet to get around to it.  With the lack of support from Ajax it's hard to get motivated to add anything.  Perhaps there are others on this forum who have added one and can chime in.

Hate to tell you this but fast jog does not work with Ajax.  There have been many posts about on the Ajax forum, fixes that are supposed to work but don't and as far as I know nobody has had any success.  I wouldn't hold my breath on them doing anything about it either.

If you have your motors tuned set your velocity and acceleration where they need to be and when you jog just cut the speed down in Mach with the % on the mpg screen.  It's a PIA to do every time but it will work.

When tuning with the ajax system and mach you want to set the velocity at 120 and the acceleration at 10, also make sure your encoder steps per are entered correct  Once you start getting them dialed in you can change the velocity and acceleration as needed.

Check your velocity and acceleration settings in motor tuning.  Also check the LED status on the allin1dc, there are several that may help you to determine what the issue might be.

"Press Reset...Emergency Mode Active" usually comes on when the e stop or reset is hit.  "Abnormal Condition" pops up from time to time when a config change has been made, no big deal just ignore it or reset it.  As for you encoder error, as hood said noise, motor tuning, not wired right, things like that could cause it.  You might want to try going in to the Ajax plug in config and "turn off the stop on encoder error" until you get it dialed in.  You might also try switching the encoders with another axis and see if it faults there too.  The chances of getting any prompt (if any) reply from Ajax are almost impossible, the Ajax forum does have some good info on it you may also want to read.

Good luck!

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD and vari speed pulleys
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:05:52 AM »
I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me on this project.  I ended up replacing the spindle bearings as well as all the bearings that were left in the head after removing the vari speed pulleys.  I figured do it all when I had it apart.

The machine runs fantastic, sounds great and I now wish I did it a long time ago!  If I could just figure out how to get the auto zero to work with this Ajax system I would be done.  I posted on the Ajax forum but tech or anybody else has yet to answer and it's been several weeks.
