General Mach Discussion / Re: Repeating Wizard At Different Work Offset?
« on: September 03, 2011, 08:03:52 AM »
Gerry, thanx for the reply.
What I have in mind is for the wizard to go to the next offset without having to stop to input the next offset.

Wizard runs on G54....after finish it reruns on G55...etc.
Is there a line(s) of code that could be added to the end of the wizard to accomplish this?

Thanx,

Rex

General Mach Discussion / Repeating Wizard At Different Work Offset?
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:13:25 AM »
Is it possible to have a wizard (circular pocket, for example) repeat from one offset to another without starting from scratch?
I would like to create an identical feature in multiple locations on the work piece.

I am using the wizards found in the demo version of R3.043.022.

Thanx,

Rex

So the angle is relative to the cutting plane or to the axis direction?
i.e are bigger numbers more gradual or less gradual ramps?

I am very interested in some clarification on ramp angle, as well.

That's cool!
I'm off to download CAMBAM!

A MS Word .txt should work, eh?

Jeff, that is exactly what is in my mind! Although I was thinking a shade of red.  ;)

What program did you use to develop the image?
I've got to get into CAD/CAM.

Jeff, look at setup pic #2..........in my mind the end mill cuts in a widening circular X-Y motion (G17),
starting at the OD of the .325" center hole, arcing down to the finish diameter of .787".
The end result will be a truncated (flat topped) hemisphere. Simply a ball end on the stock.

In his reply BR549 mentions an alternate method using X-Z motion (G18) that I had not considered, thinking it
would require a rotary move of the part.

Thanx for your interest!

Is that an ER collet in the pic?????????????:o

If so, it looks as though you might have a problem with your spindle taper.

You really need to get a handle on appropriate feeds and speeds for the material you are cutting and the cutting tool you are using.
Randomly stabbing at the settings will get you nothing but wasted material and trashed milling cutters.
Many cutting tool manufacturers/suppliers have feed/speed recommendations for their tooling on their web sites, and there a number of good general references to be found.....Google "milling feeds and speeds".
