General Mach Discussion / Re: MACH NOT ROUTING RIGHT
« on: November 22, 2010, 02:03:22 PM »
Picture of the delrin anti-backlash nut i made and my mdf router table. I think my problems are the combination of the stepperworld controller and the vexta pk266-02a being too small. I searched all over for a motor supplier to stick their neck out for the proper sizing of the stepper motor for my table with no results. I even read hundreds of posts with the same results. The knowns are screw size, tpi, starts, travel, and the weight of gantry. They should be able to plug this into a formula with a safety factor and select the proper motor size. The reason i keep bringing this up is because the first package that was recommended to me included 80 oz-in motors, when these couldn't move anything i was told i needed these vexta 127 oz-in motors. I didn't know the first thing about stepper motors at the time and only went by what was recommended to me. Like i memtioned earlier i was looking for a supplier that has good technical support and a telephone, because i would like to start a second build and correct the sins of the past.

Hood when i pick the reply button at the bottom of the page it takes me to another page where i type in my reply and select the browse button to find my files. When i click post i get a error message stating " There is already an attachment with the same filename as the one you tried to upload. Please rename the file and try again." What am i doing wrong?

Thanks again guys for responding. I took the stepper motor off the y axis and the screw spins freely without the motor attached. I seen on another post someone asked how to adjust these homemade delrin anti-backlash nuts. Nobody responded, i wonder why? I wanted to attach a picture of this nut and my machine on this reply, but can't find a area to do this in this quik reply.

Thanks for responding guys. My machine is a 2'x3' homemade mdf router table with three Vextra PK266-02A stepper motors and stepperworlds FET-3 hi torque controller.  I have a  10TPI half inch acme screw on all three axis. The steps per setting is 4000 for all three axis, this was calculated in the following manner 400steps per rev x 10 tpi = 4000. This was verified during the settings tab test for steps per for each axis. The velocity and acceleration is set as the following:
                                                                     axis  velocity   acceleration       step/pulse      dir/pulse
                                                                       X      22           10                     5                5
                                                                       Y      12            3                     5                 5
                                                                       Z      12            5                      5                5
The slow jog was set at 10% but i used the shift key when i said the motors was running smoothly at fast jog. When i jog the axis around they do move the correct distances. Also the FET-3 has the x and y on one power source and the z on its own source. I have tried for hours adjusting the settings on the Y axis and can't get rid of that binding sound even at a setting of velocity= 5 acceleration=1. The noise comes in play at the first three inches of the table and again at the last three inches of travel, in the center of the table runs nice and quiet. This has been going on for some time now and i can't get any support from the manufactuers. I read on differant forums about people who built router tables with stepper motors smaller than mine. I would like to get this system operating correctly so i could prove to my wife its not a piece of junk and would like to start another build. I was considering a gecko g540 with kelings 381's but i want to find rep. that has a phone that i can speak to for support. Does anyone know one?

General Mach Discussion / MACH NOT ROUTING RIGHT
« on: November 17, 2010, 09:01:54 PM »
I have a problem routing my project in the center of my material, some of the project is on the material and part is totally off the material. When i do a reference all in machine coordinates it works perfectly, then i switch to work coordinates jog to where i want work 0,0 bring down the z axis to touch the material and zero the x,y and z axis, then do a regen toolpath. When i hit cycle start there is loud binding sound x and z move to where they are suppose to move but y axis lags behind. When i went into the settings tab and ran the set steps per unit test the x and z responded correct, but when i did the y axis i entered to move one inch it moved only a quater inch and that loud binding noise was there. When i use the arrow keys on the keyboard all axis move smoothly. What the heck is going on?

General Mach Discussion / Re: TOUCH PLATE FOR FET-3
« on: November 03, 2010, 03:59:35 PM »
Thanks Tweakie for responding, i read both of the links you provided but they don,t address the system i have. Being a hobbyist and haven't performed the task before is the problem and this seems to be the problem for most hobbyist i in this cnc industry especially in the electronics field. I still can't grasp the active high low thing. With proper prints and specs most hobbyist can build machines, run wiring, weld parts, thread components and can complete the project, but without this road map we are lost. Thats why i had posted on the suggestion area that there should be a how to do support category. Stepperworlds logic has switches S4,S5 AND S6 witch i have the home switches hooked up to. Hoping someone had used stepperworlds package and hooked up a touch plate and would share their installation. Still haven't heard back from stepperworld.

General Mach Discussion / TOUCH PLATE FOR FET-3
« on: November 03, 2010, 10:15:47 AM »
I would like to install a touch plate to my mdf constructed router table. I read so many posts about this subject on different forums i'am confused on how to go about this. I have a stepperworld fet-3 board and requested support from them with no luck. Is there a instructional procedure out there on how to do this including wiring diagram with my system?

General Mach Discussion / Post Processor
« on: October 24, 2010, 10:42:13 AM »
I have bobcad v19 program and never downloaded a post processor, i was told by their tech support to pick fanuc 6m from the drop down windows in their program.  Recently i went on their website and saw they have Mach post processors. I have a router table, and would like to know which post processor to download Mach3 mill. exe, Mach3 mill with offsets.exe or Mach3 macro.exe ?  I am using Mach3.

It would be a great help to beginners to have a section that had examples worked out step by step.

can you bring a photo into lazycam and develop g-code? are there any examples of how to do this?
