Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Wizard problem
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:14:21 AM »
Yes, I have been reading other threads to try to find the answer to this, I have made sure that I have \Addons\Newfangled, I rename the folder after unzipping the update and double checked the spelling.
Its also not screen dependent, I have tried it with the 1024 screen set to check. All the other wizards work just fine, its just the Newfangled that I am having a problem with.
I will check that the Materials.txt file is still there when I get home though.

I bought my NewFangled license about 18 months ago and have been using it very successfully.
After a mains power failure, the motherboard on on my PC died and I have had to replace it.
To cut a long story short, I have Mach3 up and running from a backup quite quickly and moved my NewFangled license file to the Mach root directory.
While I was at it I have updated to version 2.86 but now I cannot get passed the initial screen where I set the Material and Max spindle speed and Feedrate.
Clicking the continue button does nothing. I have checked that the Auto Calculator is off but still it dose not want to work.
Any ideas please.
Thanks
John

Dave,
As one of your customers it would be good if you supported this VFD in MSM.
As the cost of these spindles and VFD make all the effort worthwhile.
Mine appears to be running very well in the tests I have been doing although I have yet to use it on a real job.
As Russ has said Matty did a good job of getting this plug-in working so its all thanks to him.

Here is a 1024 Screen Set in which I modified / added the RPM and AMPS DRO's to the Program Run and MDI screens.
I have tested them and they seem to work OK.

DrLove,
Thanks for that, I will give that a try.

I did try changing the DRO addresses but for some reason they always revert back to 1001 and 1002.
So it looks like something is not right.

My Spindle is working well and the VFD displays the speed I request in Mach3 except when I request the minimum speed, 6000 RPM in my case, it always displays 6600 RPM. ???
I just am also having problems displaying the reported speed from the VFD in a DRO as are others it seems.
Has anyone any ideas on how to fix this?

Isn't that what the plugin config box already has?
The two text boxes marked Spindle Amps DRO and Spindle Speed DRO addresses allow them to be set to what ever you need.
Or am I missing something?

I have also found that RS Components do these ferrites http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=2224359.
My Router spindle is really working well so many thanks to Matty for the plug-in.

Since installing this plug-in I have been suffering with similar problems to others with lockup when trying to switch off the spindle after being able to start it fine.
The cure for me turned out to be very simple, I just used two ferrite cable filters one on the USB cable close to the PC and the second just after the screw terminal
block on the RS485 interface.
The filters I used are similar to these http://www.leadertechinc.com/bisectedround.shtml I just happen to have a couple on some old network cables I had lying around.
I hope this might be helpfull to others.

General Mach Discussion / MPG Interfacing problems
« on: May 14, 2010, 02:14:46 PM »
This is my first post on the Forum so I hope this topic is in the right place.

I have been having problems getting my PC to initialise a second parallel port which I am using to drive my MPG via a CNC4PC C22 board.
The board works fine when I manage to get the the port to be recognised by Mach3 but its is very temperamental.

I have tried several PCI cards from from different suppliers including the SIIG JJ-P00112-S6 which others recommended but still no luck when the machine boots.

After spending several evenings trying everything, I stumbled across a way to reliably get it to work.
This involves pressing the Reset and then going to "config, port & pins, "deselecting the" enable pins 2-9 as inputs" checkbox and applying the change.
Exit the config menu. Press Reset again and go back to the Ports & Pins menu and re-enable the "enable pins 2-9 as inputs" and apply the change.
From then on the port works fine including if you close and restart Mach3.

As soon as I reboot the machine I have to do the whole thing over to get the port back.

Does anyone have any idea on how I might fix this, or, worse case, a work around.

I hope this made sense and someone has some ideas.

Cheers
John
