Ken,
I don't know, you would need to ask ART.
The finish pathing is still being developed. May need to go to origin for the final calc's to be done.  ???
It not realy cutting material.

RICH

Since I am turning between centers ... that move would be very fatal to my machine and work piece.

Ken,
That's what i like to hear "re-read the tools section" .
What or is there something missing in the manual that didn't come across?
RICH

OK, I got my tools defined correctly and the tool paths show correctly.

Just one little issue - snipet from attached file:
G0 X0.3800
   Z0.0006
G1 Z0.0006 X0.0001
  Z0.0006 X0.1800
  Z-0.0082 X0.1829
  Z-0.0278 X0.1868
  Z-0.0475 X0.1903
  Z-0.0673 X0.1934
  Z-0.0772 X0.1948
  Z-0.1070 X0.1982
  Z-0.1369 X0.2006
  Z-0.1568 X0.2017
  Z-1.9668 X0.2130
  Z-2.0168 X0.2129
  Z-2.1368 X0.2131
  Z-2.3700 X0.2130
G0 X0.3800
(--------------End of Finish path-----------)

Why does LazyTurn put this very deep plunge into the code?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3Turn rapid speed question
« on: April 03, 2010, 11:03:33 PM »
Ken,
Set the velocity at 20 and an acceleration at 2, then try 30 and an accel of 3, keep working your way up until they skip , then back off by 30 %. use that velocity as the max. Now start increasing  just the acceleration with that max velocity.
G00 - is  a rapid movement at the max velocity you have set in motor tuning
I assume they are steppers.
RICH

RICH ... Have you got a filter for my stupid questions?
Man, your answers are always right on.
With your answer, I realized, that I was testing my motor tuning with a 13% "jog" command. IE 85 (VEL) * .13 = 11.05 ipm. Not a G0 rapid command. To stop this in the future. I cranked the jog to 100%.

Turns out my MAX Velocity is 16. Thus, 16 - (.3*16) = 11.2
I already knew, I couldn't run these motors faster then 12 ipm. I just couldn't see how the "85" velocity was working.

Thanks again
Ken

Ken you must set the motor tuning first there are examples in the member docs section

Phil

Huh??? If I didn't set the motor tuning parameters ... How could I post them here????

General Mach Discussion / Mach3Turn rapid speed question
« on: April 03, 2010, 08:11:40 PM »
For some reason my lathe doesn't like G0 rapids? I can replace all G0's with G1's and the code will run OK.
The code has a F12 to set the feed rate. But the rapids still try to go much faster?

Jog works OK - I have the jog set to ~12% to keep the ipm below 12.
The really strange thing is my motor tuning parameters: Velocity - 85, Acc - 20.

How do I get my rapid speed down without changing motor tuning parameters?

LazyTurn / Screen Size?
« on: April 03, 2010, 07:14:02 PM »
Is there a method to getting LazyTurn to remember a resized screen display?

Why? My design computer has 2 monitors with the desktop spread across both. I would like LazyTurn to only use the left monitor. Thus, leaving the right to display documentation.

Well then, it seems that LT is working correctly for you if the other dxf's are working. So it may be a matter of how you are defining and using the tools.
Quote
All mine would do is face (is that the correct term?) the material.
Do you mean a rough cut? You can't do facing / cutting of the stock face.

When you say all mine.......do you mean the drawings or DXF's that you are creating for import into LT?

RICH

I think I have the answer ... It appears that the default tools need some changes to make the desired cuts.
I will have to reread the tools section and define my tools better.

Thanks for the help.

Works here in LazyTurn.
Did you read the manual on how to install LazyTurn?

Hmm....did you select a tool and then select a rough or finish pass?
It dosn't do it automaticaly..... ;)
RICH
As far as I can tell, LazyTurn is installed OK. It works just fine on the sample files and several others found here on the forum.
I tried multiple tools and both rough and finish pass.
All mine would do is face (is that the correct term?) the material.

First let me state that I am new here and have not read all the posts ...

Any idea why my dxf doesn't create any toolpath?
