I ran several parts today and after each one the Z value changed but not the same each time, I originally thought it was going to machine value but it doesn't seem consistent,  it's changing each time, always on the z and always right when the program ends, after it goes to it's x/y zero

I checked the general config screen and they have "perform G92.1", "Turn off spindle" and "radius comp off" all checked
What exactly the perform G92.1 do?

Odd problem with a router running mach3

At the end of a part program the cutter retracts to z.8 (zero set on top of the part) and then the program sends the machine to x and y 0.0 (lower left corner of the material) and then does a m30 to end the program.

If you look at the DRO when everything is done the Z is sitting at -1.7, which if I change to machine co-ords is what it says it should be while the x and y show the offset where the material is (3 and 3 in this case)

So it would appear that somehow at the end of the program it is resetting the z axis back to the machine value or erasing the z offset or something, but not affecting the x and y

I thought it might be from the router turning off but since it's not some random number I now think maybe no.

Z zero is being set with a tool-sense plate if that makes a difference

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I was going to mark the probe and then always loading the same way, adjusting the calculation to suit. Then I got thinking about some way of making sure the probe error wasn't changed (probe bent or something) and ended up with this method.
Works great, just needs to be built into a macro.

Hello all
I'm sure it's been addressed but I can't find it.

I was thinking that to ensure any errors in the actual probe that made the tip off-center to the spindle, what we need is an 8 point centering routine.
the first set of points would be normal, then a delay where the probe (spindle) could be turned 1/2 around (180 deg) and the next set of points taken.
The compensated center would be 1/2 of the difference between the center of the first set and the center of the second set.

I just did this manually with my new probe and verified with a dial-ind. and it works within < .0003" over 5 tests.
How this would be written into the script to do it automatically (probe, pause, probe) I have no idea.

Anyone gone down this road before?

The Z will go up to 130ipm with an acc of 75, ran like a hundred cycles of anywhere from .1 to 15" with little probems but once in a while it would "stall" for no apparent reason
I've dialed down to 100 ipm with an acc of 25
I've been through the threading doc and I've performed the tests, everything looks good (finders crossed)
I've got several codes to work through, Mastercam X2, simple thread wizard and a manual G76 version. Time will tell

The disk is taped over, just re-calibrated everything. Re-tuning the motors.
Thread testing tomorrow I think (I need to figure out wy every now and then the Z-axis seems to stall (steppers buzz, DRO's move but not the carriage) Maybe just reduce the acceleration some. )

I've been playing and can't seem to get it to deal with the 8 notches so I guess it's back to a single notch in the encoder then. (crap, just made it last week too)

Hello All
I'm nearing the end of a lathe conversion and just upgraded to .032 and brought all of my existing settings over due to some of the issues I was encountering during threading.

When I turned on the spindle (VFD via C11G controller) my readings blank on actual RPM.

I checked and changed the input signal from timing to index in the ports and pins (it was in timing in .029, working fine)

Now I got a reading but they were way off on the actual vs commanded. (I didn't check but probably 8 times higher)
I started to recal the spindle when I noticed that it was seeing all input pulse but registering them as 1 per rev., I remember reading in a post that index should only be one per rev.

My disk is on the spindle and has 8 slots (optical sensor) with one slot much larger than the others as per the manual. It was working in timing mode but now that i've had to switch it over to index I've had to tape the other slots all over to  get mach to read proper speed.

I can make a new timing disk with only a single slot but I'm just wondering what happened / changed and it it will affect something else somewhere (ie threading)

Any thoughts or input??
