General Mach Discussion / Re: problems viewing training videos
« on: November 08, 2009, 08:30:41 AM »
Hi Hood
Yes I had been down loading from the ftp file however, I tried your link and using google chrome instead of windows explorer everything suddenly works great, I can download and view no problem and it seems quite fast. Guess the problem must have been windows explorer? Thanks for your help, after so much frustration I can now start the learning.

Hi
I reside in Scotland, Aberdeen area, I have been using conventional machines for many years now but I have been interested in CNC for some time. I have everything to learn, I aim to eventually add a cnc lathe and mill to my existing conventional shop. I am currently converting a Warco VMC. No sooner do I make a start I end up working over seas so progress in this area is currently limited to short home visits. Meanwhile I can spend time learning the cnc language, maybe get some g-code ready to try.
May main inertest is scale steam and ic engines, my current projects are a 1/4 scale traction engine and a 1/4 scale Bentley BR2 rotary engine both about 70% complete. CNC will be good for finishing the Bentley. To keep my model activity going while over seas I bought a Sherline lathe, very good and portable machine, basically on my travels I have one suitecase cloths and one or two extra baggage lathe and tools.

Hope to be Happy cncing soon, I am sure I will call on your support from time to time,

Nigel

General Mach Discussion / problems viewing training videos
« on: November 07, 2009, 08:10:11 PM »
Hi
I am completely new to cnc, can't wait to get going, I bought my mach 3 licence but currently I am working overseas so I have not yet got my machine set up. I thought I would put my time away from home to good use viewing the training videos and generating some g-code.

My problem - When I view a video I don't get the whole thing only about 20%, when I try and down load a video after a very short period I get a 'timed out' message.

I know nothing much about computers, is there anything I can try to overcome this problem, I have spent a frustrated day making many attempts with out success. I am using a laptop with vista, I am working in Malaysia, my connection is a mobile broadband which is not particularly fast but generally does not give me trouble.

Thanks for any help

Nigel
