yes they do have a flat on the side and a ER collet holds them very well. I use the correct collet on my cnc at work but for my cnc at home I can only get a  1/4" , 3/8"  or 1/2 collet

thanks ger21 I've tried to look for a bit source around here in Canada where we use the metric system ( but buy all lumber and bits in imperial ). As far as bending a bit i've never seen that happen before and I have use 3 to 35mm bits in our cnc as work for yrs running around 12,000rpm. I'm just drilling 7/16 into particale board, but ty again for the link for the bit sorce. Anyone out there care to machine me a simple split sleeve on a lathe??

Would anyone know where I can get a sleeve for my router to got from a 1/2 collet to a 10mm bit. I have one that goes from 1/2 to 3/8. I need to drill some 5mm holes for shelf pins in a cabinet so I have some 5mm bits with a 10mm shank. Any ideas would be helpful.  Im in the Brantford, Ontario area.

FAQs / Re: Cutting Acryclic
« on: March 11, 2010, 03:02:45 PM »
i've been cutting acrylic for years and highly recomed an o flute bit i run  at speeds of between 100 and 140 IPM and an RPM of around 18,000 RPM to key to cutting acrylic is to climb mill  the cut as compaired to conventional cutting, if your gettin  melting  or remelting behind the cut your cuttin gto slow of a feed and over heatingthe acrylic and the cutter. Hope this helps you should be able to do a single pass with a 1/4 inch cutter into at least 3/8 thick and stil get a good cut

I'm familiar with cnc's but a little green with mach3 i'm learning lazy cam as well but i need to get a few 3D signs done to satisfy a client. Any input would be very helpful  ty
