General Mach Discussion / Toolpath Perspective upon Regen Toolpath
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:49:36 PM »
Hi all,

Because of the way my router is setup relative to my computer I would like to change the perspective of the toolpath that is automatically chosen when you double click on the toolpath area in the toolpath screen. By default, mach 3 sets up as positive y, right as positive x, and out of the screen as positive z. I would like to modify these settings such that when I double click on the toolpath screen it resets the perspective to: right as negative x, up as negative y, and out of the page as positive z. Anyone know how to go about doing this?

thanks a bunch,

- Will

If I have my spindle hooked up to a relay that is controlled by one of the output pins on the printer port, what would I need to do in order to get the spindle on/off button working in your screen? thanks.

Newbie question: What do the X/2 Y/2 and Z/2 buttons do?

Your screen is awesome btw. I originally started with the standard Mach 3 screen, but it has WAY too much stuff that I don't use. Your screen has just the right amount of functionality for my purposes.

thanks!

General Mach Discussion / Re: New PlugIn just about done..
« on: September 09, 2009, 12:44:32 AM »
Just got the Shuttle Pro and hooked it up to mach3 with surprisingly little problems. In fact I would say zero problems. I just installed the plugin and connected the shuttle pro and every button worked!

One thing though. The outside round wheel is great but the jog rates it chooses are not. If I rotate it all the way to one direction, I jog at full speed, but the increments it chooses between zero and full speed are not great. Is there a way to change how the jog speed increments that are assigned to the outside wheel? Also, this leads me to my next question. The outside jog wheel is discrete in the jog speeds that it allows. I think i counted about 5-6 speeds that are increasingly quick as you rotate the wheel all the way to one direction. Is there any way to make this continuous such that instead of there being only 5-6 speeds, the speed of the jog would be a continuous function of the wheel position?

and not to sound like i'm complaining, I really appreciate that someone spent so much time writing up this plugin. It works great!

thanks,

- Will

Hi all,

My name is William and I just graduated this year from UC Berkeley with a degree in mechanical engineering. I start this fall at Stanford for my MS in mechanical engineering. I have been interested in CNC for a long time, but only recently have I started actually learning about the subject. I recently bought a K2 2514 router. I bought the electronics off ebay and purchased a g540 gecko drive for the steppers. I searched around and luckily stumbled onto Mach 3. It's lucky i did because i have learned so much from simply browsing the forums of this website. I just cut my first part a few weeks ago (very exciting). It was a simple part (a circle), but it was just as cool as i expected. I cut a circle because it is extremely simple for a CNC and such a pain in the ass when you are milling manually! Anyways, I'm very happy to be a part of this group now.

cheers,

- Will

Just want to say thank you so much to whoever figured out this trick. My Dell Latitude laptop wasn't working at all and then I reconfigured the ACPI driver to standard PC and it works beautifully now.
