SmoothStepper USB / Re: SS MPG output current?
« on: July 11, 2008, 11:00:57 PM »
Hi Brett and Greg,

Thanks for that info.  I guess that a sourcing pin would not typically use to much current,  but if you had three pins using 30ma each,  then you would be pretty close to the 100ma standard USB limit.  I did get an error message from windows stating excess USB current with a Galil controller I was playing with about a year ago, so I guess there is some level of protection built in to the computer.  I will give the MPG a try and let you guys know what I see.  Thanks again,
Jim C.

SmoothStepper USB / SS MPG output current?
« on: July 11, 2008, 02:11:53 PM »
Hi Guys,

I was about to hook up my MPG to the SS,  I measured the current of the MPG it was a little over 50ma,  I got worried and wondered what the output current for the SS MPG 5Volt supply is?  In the SS manual, I saw a 32ma limit for the sourcing and sinking of input and output pins, but I am unclear on the board supplied current for the MPG.  Thanks for the help,
Does anyone know what it is rated for?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Galil Spindle delay problem?
« on: October 18, 2007, 04:06:07 PM »
Hi Brett,     I not sure how you do those fancey things like sending a screen shot,  if you can walk me through it, I would be glad to do so.  It seems to work fine in PP mode.  So I asume it is in the Galil plugin,  I believe you will need a Galil board installed to test it out.  I am using a DMC-2140 over ether net.  Thanks for the help, Jim

General Mach Discussion / Galil Spindle delay problem?
« on: October 18, 2007, 01:40:29 PM »
Hi Brian/Art,

When I toggle my spindle cw or ccw, if I have any dwell (been using 1 sec.) the toggle locks up, I can turn it off ounce but can not turn it back on.  MDI of M3, M4 works the same. The dwell light comes on and stays on.  If I have no dwell set, then the spindle toggles normally on and off as much as I like.  Can you please look into this and tell me if I have a setting wrong of if the Galil plugin or Mach has a bug?  Thanks,
Jim C.

Galil / Re: Mach3 + Galil

Hi Brian,   I have some stange things going on with the plugin.  With no program running if I click the spindle on, the dwell light starts to flash and the spindle button starts to flash, the dwell does not stop after the one second delay that is set,  if I click the spindle off, it goes off (button stops flashing) but the dwell is still on,  if I attempt to restart the spindle nothing happens, but the dwell light is still flashing.    Now if I run a program, I can turn the spindle on and off with no trouble, but the dwell never flashes.  Are these plugin bugs or because my system is not set up correctly?  using a DMC-2140 over TCP, Mach3  V2.51 latest plugin. Thanks for the help,
Jim

Galil / Re: Mach3 + Galil

Hi Brian,

Will you be able to do a performance test for the Galil stuff? I would like to know how it does in the small segment 3d moves, and how it compares to the other options. It appears that the PP is still the best system in terms of performance? Thanks,
Jim C.

Galil / Re: Mach3 + Galil

Hi Art/Brian,

If I use the outer wheel of the shuttle with the jog mode set to step,  the movement will not stop when the wheel is released. It works great if jog is set to continuous, but goofs up if set to step. This problem arises when running the Galil plugin, no problem in PP operation. Thanks for all you do,
Jim
