FYI, after jumpering some wires I found out it was the relay in the Cutmaster 52

Hi Guys,
I have a 2008 DynaCnc plasma/router with 6000 series controller. Everything had been working well till late last year. I had intermittent problems with the, OK to move/Arc OK signal not getting through when using THC. Now the signal does not get through to Mach3 at all. The signal only is needed when using the THC. The machine will not move if the signal does not come in.  I have checked the cable from the torch to the controller and all seems well. The parallel and 9 pin cables from computer to controller are all new.
My Questions:
1. Does anyone know where or what port/pin the "OK to move" signal comes into Mach and what the label might be inside Mach config utility.
2.  I was wondering if I could lie to Mach and tell it that that signal was always on somehow, or just bypass it when the THC is turned on.
If it is a PCB card in the controller I am probably out of luck because they are out of business unless someone has a old 6000 series controller they have replaced or parted out and don't need anymore.
I appreciate your help.

Just a thought, is your machine configured to "exact stop"? If so, try "constant velocity". As I remember my CV is on but all the settings are off. Also sometimes it helps to have "line look ahead" set to 100 or more.

I checked the settings and they are the same. I went back in the memory bank(my old posts) and it started happening after a Mach upgrade in 2009 or 2010. Oh well I have lived with it this long.
Thanks for the thoughts,

General Mach Discussion / Referencing axis at 0.0 question (again)

This is kind of s general question for my info. I have a CNC router/plasma machine. When I reference home in the router xml the machine goes to the limit switch touches and then backs off and zeros out like it should. In plasma xml mode it goes to home switch touches, and stops dead, some times it zeros out sometimes not. Its not a big deal as I have lived with it for almost 7 years. I am just wondering which setting would cause the variation in homing. Thanks

Here ya go Tweakie. This was done in a profle tool path. I noticed when I did a dry run the Z was creeping up and then sometimes it would drop. I made some letters in my Cut2d in an inside profile tool path and the Z stayed steady as a rock. The only time it raised and lowered was going from one letter to another. Which I think is what it should be doing. Correct?

Thanks Mike

Mike, if it is "single" line text I believe you should run the toolpath "on" the vectors. If the vectors are true type fonts you should use a "vcarve" toolpath. If you would like you can PM me and send me the Vcarve file and I'll take a look at it for you.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Pierce delay for plasma
« on: February 11, 2011, 05:00:43 PM »
Afternoon,

I have just changed my plasma cutter to one which has a arc ok signal on it, it seems to activate this signal as soon as the arc has transferred not once the plate has been penetrated, this means that when i have the thc mode set on in mach as soon as the arc transfers the machine starts to move but the arc hasnt penetrated the plate, i need to get some kind of a pause in there so i modified my sheetcam post processor to have a pause at the right time but mach seems to ignore it and as soon as it sees the arc ok signal it goes to the next line which has a machine move in it, any ideas why this happens? or if not any ideas on how i can get round it??

Help would be greatly appreciated

Matt

Matt I may be wrong(I'm not at my machine) but I think there is a setting inside Sheetcam for pierce delay when setting up your your torch. It gets written into the gcode automattically. I'll take a look over the weekend

Hi there

I'm not at home right now but I know from memory when create the drawing with cut 2d, I use the align centrally button and it is deffinately depicted directly centre of the work piece. When I get home I shall have another look though.

Regards,

Neil.

In Vectric
Do a, Edit, Job size and position, recheck x-y origin is set to "center". If thats not the problem: ????????????

Hello Rich,

I appreciate your responses, you guys really are great.

I'm not entirely sure of what to do but I will go and have a good tinker with the Cut2d (which is from Vcarve, by the way) and see what I come up with!

Many thanks.

Neil.

Hi Niel,
I think Rich has the right idea, your text is not "on center" in Cut 2D. Highlite your text(all your vectors) use the "align vector" tool button to center them in the job. If your 0.0 is on center they should line up perfectly.

If you have a few extra bucks I would give Sheetcam a look. It sets up pierce and cut heights, kerf compensation, all kinds of good stuff. Very easy to use. It has many post processors

Have Fun
