Thanks Dan. Any ideas on the voltage? I haven't retrofitted it yet. I think I am going to just use the steppers on it for now and geckos and servos down the road. Still not sure how to control the spindle motor. How many inches per minute does your run stock? Are you using original drives or??

Does anybody know the stepper volts/amps for all three steppers on a dyna lathe, they aren't printed on there. Thanks

I know a few people have done these. There was one on ebay not to long ago that mentioned the folks from mach3 gave him the toolchange macro for the lathe. Any help?

I am in a dilema, I have the lathe, and it has most of the boards, but none of them are wired up. My original intentions were to just use the original drives and a campbell breakout board that I have on hand. That went out when I found out nothing was hooked up. Anybody know what kind of performance I would get hooking it up to say a xylotex setup? My other option is gut it and use some pittmans and geckos.

How do I control the spindle motor on this lathe, should I scrap it as well? Anybody ever got its spindle encoder working with any of these drives/mach3?

Having trouble getting the steps per in setup correctly. I had them setup as 10000, but everything comes out a little off. Backlash is fine. 1.8 degree stepper motors coupled directly. I am using gecko 201s, I have no idea what the ballscrews are though. If I calculate the steps using the setup wizard, it comes to different numbers on the x and y axis. I get some strange numbers like 10049.97937493. Any help? What is the proper procedure for checking backlash? Any other hints?
