Can you use Laser diode to cut 1/4" wood? Am looking switching to Laser instead of a router

Please upload your elipse dxf and be sure to name it something like "vadudeelipse12". Someone will be sure to look at it for you.

Dave
Used Rich suggestion and it is working fine now

LazyCam (Beta) / Ellipse shaped becomes a polygon in Lazycam
« on: December 13, 2010, 11:14:55 AM »
My Lazycam Pro is behaving in an inconsistent way.I tried exporting an ellipse drawn with an autocad 2000 into LC Pro but it shows up as a 6 sided polygon. I drew another ellipse saved with a different name and it never showed up at all under LC.
    However,I am able to import all other shapes into LC with no problem. A search through the forum with "ellipse lazycam" as key words yielded similar postings/problem 2 years ago but members response blames it on the CAD program.
    Does anyone has a fix here?

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Drill Holes

You do the holes to be drilled as a point in Acad. Then when in Lcam do a drill cycle to the point.

Hope that helps

I will try this and keep u posted

Can somebody walk me through how drill 4 holes with 0.25" diameter using a router bit size of 0.25" diameter using an autocad , Lazycam(unregistered) & Mach3.It was easy when i had a bit with  size of diameter 0.125"

Am not trying to do anything offsetting. For instance,  downloaded a dxf file for spur gear the forum, used lazycam & posted gcode to mach3.The 1st pass was ok.But the 2nd & 3rd passes were off from the 1st one. There are no play in my X and Y axis. Other items designed on my autodesk cad software and run thru LC does ok thru all passes

I am using free version Lazycam (Version3.002) & mach3 but for  some unknown reasons ,any DXF  file;
i. downloaded from this forum
ii. generated using any software that output a dxf

    cuts fine on the first pass. However on the subsequent  passes to achieve the required depth, the x & y offset by some amount

   However, all dxf files from my cad software(Autodesk Architectural desktop 3.3) goes through my unregistered lazycam software to a registered mach3 to a finished cut with no problem.what am i doing wrong here?
