Just in case.

I read a post by Hood on how to rename the XML file and then post it. I'm lazy.

General Mach Discussion / EUREKA! CHARGE PUMP!
« on: September 20, 2008, 10:56:19 PM »
Found It!

It's a charge pump signal issue. I apparently, have a REV 1 G540. The G540 requires a 12Khz Charge Pump Signal to be present before it will allow the motors to move. The newer versions of the hardware have a button inside to turn this feature on or off. Mine doesn't. It's 1st gen.

I'm gonna look it up here, but is there a software fix for this? If so, I can hold up on shipping this G540 back for a newer replacement.

Thanks again y'all. ;D

Sorry, I get an error message when I try to upload my XML file or a copy thereof. I see though, that there is a Gecko mode which appears to be inactive (0). Since I have a G540, could this be the issue?

Anyway, I thought a text file would be sufficient. How do I upload this bugger? I'm checking my wiring ASAP!

Thanks for the responses.

Rich

I thought about the wiring first. I'm no detective, but it makes sense. Hot motors with no movement. It's a 4 wire setup with 2 windings. I wired them after reviewing both the motor schematic and wiring setup in the Gecko manual. I'll have another look at it today.

Hood

I've attached my XML. Thanks, trying to read it makes my eyes wanna rotate to the back of my head.

General Mach Discussion / Motors won't turn

I just put together my CNC system. It's a G540 I bought in kit form from Keling. The G540 seems to be working, the green light is lit. I watched the setup video. I then reinstalled Mach3 so I could open up the motor tuning menu. I'm not getting any kind of movement out of the motors at all, they just get hot and quickly too. It feels like I'm missing something obvious here. Any suggestions?
