General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 motor tuning dialog screen

I think it is the only time ive ever installed mach wiith out checking the parallel port interface as well.  figured not checking it might in some way lighten the load of what this miachine thinks it has to do, seeing I was using the dynomotion plug in and would not need parallel stuff.    Will try what you said.  Stupid me i didn't bother to search for the answer first.

Thanks ger.

Mach 3 motor tuning dialog screen

Moved my Mach 3 v3.042.040 to another machine since the previous one was getting questionable. Just a normal xp machine installed the software. But didn't install the parallel port driver which I usually do. Since I'm only using a dynomotion kflop decided not to when prompted. Anyway copied in my setup and screens from other machine and everything works. Except nothing displays when I select the config/motor tuning window. This does not really need to be seen now since the values are set. But not sure why it does not come up. No error or anything Any ideas? Other dialogs work fine

Thanks

Just a quick check..  How to derive the max frequency or an example of deriving it?   Guessing it's something like pulses from the servo sensor x rotation x distance or something.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach + Grex + Pendant w/MPG

Seemed like it worked.  Some things did scare me about it.  Like if you clicked on a mach dropdown while jogging it would continue to jog and ignore estops as I remember.  Been a while since I've tried it again..

But I got it to solve another problem which was not caused by the pc but rather the bios setting I was running at the time.

Need support for 3 MPG's at the same time before I go back to it I think.

the 1 mpg input goes in throughthe one of the other axis inputs (A or the other one of the 6 I think.)  would have to open my box to check..  It isn't inputed though the x y or z part of the Grex..

Hope it's true.  I'd like to start using the thing again especially with the P4 in place and working parallel well now.  Have the Grex in my case and can switch back and forth easy enough with dip switches but hopefully will see 3 mpg's capiable soon with it..

are there some unforseen advantages over all to doing grex over parallel if parallel is working?  Perhaps i'm missing something.  Things like limit switches seemed to act a little weird (ie not responding with grex if the menus were accidentaly clicked) which is a scarry prospect to me and one reason I stopped using the G once I got my parallel port on the p4 working again...

Also acceleration didn't seem to be always consistant with the G depending on some sequences of opening and applying the different setup screens...

But anyway maybe quantum will satisfy all if it uses grex...  Looking forward money in hand to that soloution.

I'd consider selling it since I will probalby not be using it in the near future.  Least I can't see it would be much better then my parallel port stuff now that I have it back running with the P4.  Really got it as the answer for the P4 running bad..  And that is cured..

Only other reason would be so I could run the mill from my laptop rather then from the desktop and that isn't probably going to happen much either..   Has Gecko stoped selling them or anything?  they said they had a waiting period of some sort going when I tried to get mine then all of a sudden it came.

Actually I got 1 mpg to input through axis b I think that some one else suggested..

Although now that I got all sorted with my P4 I"m back to using the parallel port interfaces for things as I really can't live with out all 3 of my mpg's on sepate inputs (toggeling between 1 for each axis is no fun)

I'd be curious hearing a precentage of complete far as the development of the G100 is just to get an idea of how long it will take up space in my controller not being used.

Currently the G100 sits in the waisted money category of stuff I got for my machine

Far as I know at the moment only input axis B (socket a and b) are reading MPG input so you have to toggel sending that input to the axis you want rather then having separate MPG's...  I to have 3 mpg's 1 for each axis so am waiting for when the G100 supports more then 1 before I move to it for good.

Actually right now from what I've played with if you go in to the encoder inputs A and B of Axis B on the G100 you can controll 1 axis at a time (selecting them in mach)..

But far as I know you can only do one at a time.

I have a pendant with 3 separate encoders though so I could (with parallel port input) could do all 3 at the same time with out having to bother with a selection switch (which is a pain)

Hopefully this will be updated shortly so all axis will use the input.
