Well I built a new PC, installed Windows 7 64 bit. Won't run Mach3 so I bunged another hard drive with XP on. Dual boot now, just boot up in XP for CNC.  ;)

Thanks Hood. I am just wondering if when the driver was initially installed on another machine whether it's slightly out with different processor speeds etc. My table is running fine, it just feels different lol. I have retuned the motors now. The homing switches work but the DRO's dont zero, baffled.

General Mach Discussion / Cloned hard drive on new pc?
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:33:05 AM »
Hi
I had Mach 3 (licensed) up and running on an old PC on XP. I needed to upgrade, so made sure my new motherboard had a parallel port  ;)

With all my other software it was easier to migrate to the new system with a clone of my hard drive (Acronis sorts it out) and update drivers. Since then Mach 3 still runs but not 100%. The homing switches don't zero (but work!) and the motors sound different (parallel port different frequencies?). Other than that it works. I am thinking I may have to do a fresh install of Mach 3 especially for the parallel port driver? I updated Mach 3 to the latest version but that obviously didn't doing anything with the driver (reboot etc.)

So a fresh install?

Cheers

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Windows 7 64 bit & Mach 3...

HI, I would like to know this as well please. I have just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. I could keep my old PC on it's own to solely run Mach 3 but be simpler if I just had the one PC. XP mode sounds like it should be ok. I made sure my new motherboard had the old legacy parallel port  ;D

Thanks for the reply. I might give it a go this weekend, let you know if it works. Cheers

Thats an old link now. Has anyone got a PCMCIA parallel adapter to work please? I know you have Sparky, cheers. Anyone else? I have a Express Card Parallel Adapter like this one...

http://www.usbnow.co.uk/PCMCIA,_Express_&_PCI_Cards-Express_Cards/c7_28/p729/Parallel_Port_Express_Card_Adapter_with_DB26_-_DB25_cable/product_info.html

Is the criteria has to be 5v instead of 3.3v?

Thanks
