Hi,
its called Radius Arcs.

Craig

Thanks Craig, set to radius arcs and still get unexpected results. And I am in the dark about what circular radius is all about. 3 different setting get me 3 different results. I will post some images to help clarify.

It is a number but is it degrees, inches or just an imaginary number. <Grin> :-\

Hi,
Mach3 uses natively 'incremental arcs'. Fusion is producing arcs using 'absolute'.

In the Fusion Mach3 post select Incremental Arcs and you'll be fine.

Craig

Thank you so much for the reply... I just cannot figure out where I make this change. Do I have to edit the post file itself?

I will upload the choices that Fusion lists and have marked the only thing that seems the make the problem seem to go away, but I and sure I am doing the wrong thing.

I looked at the post file itself and that is way over my head.

Thank you so much in advance for any help of clue you or anyone can offer.

Regards,

General Mach Discussion / Weird arcs and circles in my Mach3 toolpaths
« on: October 22, 2022, 12:13:36 AM »
I am trying to generate simple turning toolpaths for Mach3 with Fusion 360... I keep getting stray arcs and circles as in the (hopefully) uploaded example image. I went through this several years ago and someone told me how to fix it and now I forget. I usually just use the turn wizards for most of the hobby stuff I do. PLEASE HELP... I'm loosing it... <It will be a short trip>

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 Turn tool-path arcs become circles
« on: November 12, 2019, 02:18:01 PM »
I am using Fusion 360 to generate a tool-path for an outside contour for Mach 3 Turn. Whenever I come to a fillet it wants to generate a full or partial circle instead of just cutting the damn fillet. I can produce the proper tool-path by messing with (swapping) G2 and G3 and/or swapping IJ mode between absolute and incremental mode but I just have to play with them until I get lucky.

I have attached a sample screenshot of an example.  Heelllp.  :P

Piet,

No joy, it did not work. I went through the setup for the VFD three times and your diagram for the hookup was bulletproof. Just to make sure I monitored it in a serial port monitoring program and could see your program sending data but nothing coming back.

The missing chip I am talking about is the RS485 chip. I am not sure if you have gone all the way through this discussion... it is quite long. There are other components missing here and there which would not affect communications but surely I must need the 485 chip???

Let me know what you think and I'll give it a try, but think I need the chip myself..

Thanks for the help, I would love to have that little programs running...

Hi Joemac

Here are two versions of the software controllers for the USB->RS485 (Ver F) I have written and use to control the spindles on machines I sell.

VFD Controller - EXE is a program that runs the spindle without Mach3 and Controller_VFD - DLL runs the spindle via Mach3 using the M3, M4 and M5 calls together with the S calls for speed setting "M3 S20000".

Both these programs runs spindle speeds between 6000 and 24000RPM

If you want lower than 6000RPM let me know and I will change the program for you to run at lower speeds.

Hope you find it worth the effort.

Piet

Thank you Piet, I have just downloaded the files.

Your previous post indicated no soldering needed, but as I understand in the RS485 chip is missing from my inverter. I was going to order one today but stopped and decided to ask first.

Thanks for you effort on this, I am looking forward to trying it out as soon as I have this missing chip bit sorted out.

Hi

Anybody interested in my Delphi program that runs the Huanyang VFD's without having any alterations done such as chip soldering via the RS584 - F version USB-Serial? It is not a plugin yet, it runs while MAch3 is running to control the spindle.

Let me know and I will post a link to download.

Cheers

Piet

Very very very interested Piet, I appreciate the offer,

Hey Joemac

They run up to 24000 rpm and I've verified mine with a tacho.

Thanks for confirming that M...

I have set my PD144 to 30000 and it now reports 24000 at full speed. Fun thing to play with if you have a bit of time.

I have been playing with my new controller here and am having a lot of fun  with it.  ;) It is the 2.2kw motor and controller. I see the serial chip is missing and I am going to order one and install it. Thanks to everyone who has tracked this all down and done so much for the group.

My question is the RPM readout:

It is only getting up to 12000 or so. Should I be changing PD143 "Motor pole number" and PD144 "Rated motor revolution"? What RPM do these motors actually turn at?

>>>>>>>LATER  Art noted on theYahoo site this is a known situation and happens now and then... they are looking for a better OCX driver. <<<<<<<<

Hi Folks,

Always one to try new stuff, I fired up the new video prob(e)ing plug in and it brings up an issue I had quite some time ago with the video windows and Mach3. This is several versions later of the video window and at least one new computer and several new hard drives and XP installs. (Should be rid of my gremlins of old and have new ones by now). I played with it a bit and here is what I get.

If you use either video plug in all works just fine UNTIL you stop recording or exit either plug in. Then try to use the video window again –either one of them- and it pegs the CPU (dual cores) and nothing much else happens. Running this on my indoor machine with no driver loaded, not the machine on my mill out in the shop. You can exit and re open either plug in and they will not work. You must exit Mach3 to get things started again.

What you do get sooner or later is a little window saying “VideOCX(VIDEO) – Disconnect failed”. I will also leave this in the Mach support site and try and attach the little window.

Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong? I am sure this must work just fine for others or we would hear more moaning and groaning. <Grin>
