Well seems mdf dust + linear bearing + grease = glue !

Unliked my drive unit from the x axis and couldn't move the motor, ripped it all apart glued bearings!

ugh!

General Mach Discussion / X Weirdness
« on: February 11, 2008, 01:22:55 PM »
Ok I am running a gantry system 4 800oz motors and 4 gecko 203v's, rack and pinion gear reduction via timing belts on all axis, recently the machine stopped cutting round circles, there is no backlash, but if i cut a 4x4 square my x=4" and my y=3.98 it's always off by 0.02 so i figure i can't be missing steps because it's always 0.02 i tried increasing the amount of steps but then i end up hitting my x limit on a tool change, which is weird, because i thought if i increased the steps then reset everything and homed if i move 10 inches left then right the same amount of steps should be sent.....

Mach SDK plugin questions and answers. / Ports / Pins

I was wondering if there was a way to access ports/pins in the sdk for read/write

General Mach Discussion / Re: Second parallel port weirdness

Yep seems like the same think what you could try is jumping and input on your second port and see what happens, if the lights toggle on the port 1 display than it's exactly the same problem that port 2 is seen as port 1, disregards the address.......

possibly mach3 cannot access the higher addresses???

Hi chrispol,

This sounds similar to the problem I posted here http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,4653.0.html .

Have you sorted it out? If so, what was the solution?

Thanks.

DrB.

Has no one seen this? i even tried changing the address of the onboard port and making changes in mach same thing, the leds on the port 1 diagnostic screen react to the second port, i check the netmos card setting and there are no overlapping regions......

Well Actually i tried physically swapping the ports and changing the addresses in mach, the pci card works fine, but i get the same results port 1&2 combined, i then disabled port 1 and enabled port 2 in mach, in the diagnostics as the turn the mpg port 1 lights go off nothing.. Tried updating to the lastest, quantum also shows this behavior.

Well I got my netmos pci parallel port card working, sortof, basically the address is 0xd000 and i set that in mach 3 under port 2 with pins 2-9 as input. I also set a mpg to pins 2,3 on port 2 and input 1 on pin 10 of port 2, now when i go to diagnostics and jog the mpg or hit the button the ports on the port 1 display toggle, but not input 1 or mpg which are set to port 2 ????

General Mach Discussion / Re: Jerky Movement
« on: October 17, 2007, 06:29:27 PM »
My current setting is 900 for speed and 9 for accel, runs nice on everything else, i noticed on one strange pocketing routine if i enable the output filter for arcs on mastercam it runs smooth and not jerky, but there is no option to do this in scalloping..

General Mach Discussion / Jerky Movement
« on: October 15, 2007, 05:48:45 PM »
Well I'm running some 3d surfacing, but mach is constantly accelerating / decelerating , i tried running the code on quantum and it's nice and smooth constant velocity, even with jerking turned off?? how come in mach 3 feeds range from 10 to 50 in quantum it stays at 145 except when changing directions weather the jerk option is on or off, any way to get this running smooth in mach 3 ? it's for production work using mastercam....
