PoKeys / Is Pokeys affected by CPU speed
« on: April 24, 2009, 05:30:58 PM »
I have setup my Pokeys for Feed control with a potentiometer

It is quick changing feedrate when there is no program running but very very slow when running a program.

It will not change until the program's line has finish to execute.

Any advice?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Racking Detection with Encoders

I'm not sure that the LM556 is a good choice, it work with resistor and capacitor which will vary with change of temperature and other factor. It will produce a pulse but not always at the desired rate.

If you want precision, you should got with crystal base generator or directly with the output of a parallel output.

PoKeys / Re: Important function using Pokeys
« on: April 21, 2009, 02:36:37 AM »
Thanks guys.

All the jog functions have been set up and working with pokeys.

So If I have wire  to hook up the ESTOP from my pendant to my bob, I should have some spare wires to use for Pause, Cycle start and stop.

I'm in a process of building a pendant using pokeys board.

Will E-STOP will work with pokeys or I should use my bob to do it.

How about FEED HOLD,  STOP and CYCLE START.

Just asking before hooking it up completely

Thanks, Jeff

Hi.

You could try to increase RPM, 500 is very slow for a .079 end mill.

Just for the fun, try it at your MAX RPM and try to keep material as cool as possible, put some water on the cut and look if it's make any difference.

Hi Jeff.

Just took a picture of one of my switching power supply, it's made by Mean Well and we clearly see the Made in China Logo

Maybe even Thailand is now too expensive for Mean Well

Jeff,  You are probably right.

I'm pretty sure too that they are all build at the same place, probably China and are distributed all over the world but each seller with put their own model number on it.

Here at home, I have several switching power supply and some can be connected parallel and some not, all depend on their basic design.

Just look at stepper driver you can buy from China, They are the same as those we can buy in North America but with different model number.

Some are cheaper, but often, they are identical.

Mr Birt, By the way, nice website
