Title: what am I doing wrong?
Post by: gianluca1962 on December 03, 2008, 03:23:31 PM
just upgraded to last .020 release (for turn) and found that in the feed d.r.o. the value is going sky high instead of keeping the programmed feed.
I copyed and paste the old configuration file .xlm from 1.84.02 version, may be this is the problem?

regards gianluca

That shouldnt cause any problems. Might be an idea to re-install the 020 version again, if that doesnt work attach your xml and some code and I will see what its like here.

If it is Feed you are talking about - i.e. F command, the only thing to check is that you have not set it, then changed units, because the Feed rate does NOT change. If you set at 100 in millimeters,(G21) then changed to inches,(G20) the feedrate would stay at 100 (inches) - and go 25 times faster.

I'm lucky - I am set up in inches, so if I forget to alter the rate, everything slows down ;D

Did what Hodd suggested, and something changed but not in the way it was desired.
After the installation the feed DRO stayed within the programmed value but the total cicle time is twice or thee time what it should be.

this morning checked again and the feed speed went sky high again.
what can I do?

Hood I tried to attach the files but the system tells me the these files have already been uploaded but the post is not shown .

The forum will only accept a file name once so if you get that message rename your file to something individual and it will load.  Copy  your xml to your desktop and then rename it before you attach it, suggest you rename to gianluca.xml.

Just tried with your xml and code and it rapids correctly and also feeds correctly. If you have ExactStop enabled the feed will slow down each line but you seem to be saying it speeds up? What is the feed DRO reading for you?

the feed DRO is between 2 and 3 times the F********* but the actual cicle time is also 2 to 3 time longer of what it should be.
in rapid it also exceeds the max motor speed set

Well that is strange as with the same xml and code I get it working correctly. Might be an idea to delete everything in the Mach folder and re download Mach and install again.
What are the specs of your computer?

I have done this yesterday as per Your suggestion, first trial was ok as feed DRo but not actual cicle time.

pc where I'am testing now is a laptop 1.8g with 1 g of ram , ( I know I should not use a laptop but this is the pc where I test blank the program and never had problem with rel 1.84) This evening I may try to update a more powerfull desktop to see if it is the pc

Run the driver test and see what it looks like. You could also try uninstaling the driver from device managr. Laptops are notorious for giving poblems, some work some dont.

If you remove the driver the laptop may well run fine for simulation purpose. If you want to use the laptop to control a machine then you would have to go with an external motion controller such as the smothtepper.

Many thanks Hood,
I have done what You suggested and now the program runs well on the laptop as simulation and I had no problem loading it in full on a desktop, again simulation as no machine in connected.
I am ready now to do the installation on the machine pc.

thanks
