Thanks to the increased activity of the spammers in the last week it was decided by the Admin that they would be looking at switching over to the new forum. Also because of the way the spammers work a lot of the members here could well be spammers waiting in the sidelines so it was decided all that had zero posts should be asked to post a quick intro as to why they are here or what they do or even just a quick hello. Doing this would weed out the genuine from the spammers and in future would allow the spammers to be targeted more easily.
I am no longer admin here but I do know how much time I spent every day going through all the aplications to register one by one to see who I thought was a spammer and who was genuine and believe me it was more than just a few mins each day, I was regularily sorting through 100 or more aplications and rejecting over 90%. and this I did 2 or 3 times a day.
Now on to the good thing the spammers may have done, it has made a lot of zero posters take the first step and introduce themselves, they may never post again but at least we have learned a wee bit more about how wide the Mach forum has reached accross the world and with a bit of luck it will encourage at least a few to post and maybe try and help out. No one knows everything about Mach, Art and Brian excepted but I bet even they have forgotten something ;) However as the forum is to do with more than just Mach there will be a lot of people amongst the new posters today that have experience in electronics, computers etc and may be able to advise.
Its great we have seen some more people today and I am hoping that I see the occasional second post and third and fourth ........... :)

I agree Hood, what a day. It has been very busy but lots of good people showing their faces. This has been an unexpected positive in the war against spammers. :)

Yep, we broke some forum records today. Most users online, for one, and a darn good stab at most posts/month. Hood has a strong lead with over 4300 post. That lead should shrink by a huge margin when Brett removes all of the spam post count from the PHP database, though. :D
