Title: Thread Milling...
Post by: pbreed on June 19, 2006, 01:56:09 PM
Can Mach 3 do Thread milling?

If so what hardware support is required from the spindle?
An index pulse, a series of pulses like the lathe?

Anyone have any Guidance on setting this up?

Hi

No special hardware support is needed. The pitch on thread milling is not dependent on the spindle revolution's like on a lathe.  The pitch in thread milling is normally measured on  the Z axis and this is done internally in Mach3,through the interpolation between the different axis involved.

Hope this helps

Hi

Forgot to mention that the Newfangled Wizards has  fabulous Thread milling capability's.
Have a look at the demo conversational Wizard in Mach 3...
