Title: my RR BIRD
Post by: edvaness on September 20, 2008, 06:55:56 PM
Original roadrunner in Mach is all g1 moves, which I don't care for.
This one is all g2 and g3 moves except z moves. This program will engrave .015 deep with sharp engrave tool.
Enclose dxf. Will post code.

I dont know, maybe because you are calling it the same as a file already posted? What does it say when you try?

I'll try this,
ZIPPED IT TO RAR. SHOULD WORK NOW.  :-\
Try it in Mach, and let me know.

Hood, Let me refresh your memory, as to the word Britt used. It was actually more than one word,
but as you know from talking with Brett, she's really hard to understand, being from S.C. and all.   :D

Ed,

Just curious how you got from .jpg to .dxf or was it the other way round?

Haven't cut your file yet as it took me a while to extract the RAR archive, I did run the .dxf through my system and cut it and it looks great in lexan.

Kristin,
I imported jpg. into autocad and drew all the outlines with 3 pt.arcs, then saved as dxf.
Then imported to my cam program. VALA. :D  The jpg.I posted is actually a screen shot from my cam program.

Ed,

Well you are a Wile E. Coyote, using ACME Brand Autocad to do such a thing.  ;D ;D

ED,
The import and then draw over the image in Autocad works great and realy comes in handy. Also once you have the drawing made you can size it to whatever you want to just fit wherever you want the engraving done. Try these out;
like take a high resolution digital picture of something taking an accurate X & Y  dimension at a fine point then resize the image in CAD to actual size, same goes for say a microscope picture ( you can get acturate dim's to .0001" depends on resolution and when it starts to pixilate), try taking a picture using zoom  lens ( done this for doing piping tie-ins in the field just need a reference to something. When you take a picture or even scan an object focus and scan about the center.
Possibilities are endless.

You can do this and draw over it and generate the GCODE quicker than any of the so called raster to vector conversion junk ( they are all crap ) out there! Just make sure you are snapping to all the end points / they are connected, and DO NOT LEAVE A LITTLE DOT ON THE DRAWING OUT IN SPACE.

Rich,

Thanks , I've done a lots of aluminum signs that way, and does an excellant job
jpg to dxf to cam. The worse part is chaining all those lines.  >:(
