Title: Tool Cal w/ Mach 3
Post by: MrPV on June 08, 2006, 03:47:38 PM
All--

I am a semi-experienced user of cnc milling (fadal 3016 VMC), and have been asked to help w/ a kluged router system using Mach 3.
The x,y,z motors are powered  by a controller from Testra corp, whose label says it is Mach 2 compatible.

It appears there is some jog-mode simulation, but thus far my attemps to make the machine move under jog mode are unsuccessful.
The procedure on standard cnc is:  you jog down to the surface at hand via a jog wheel, do a Set Length command (or edit the tool cal table), and you're done.

I can get the machine to move (ie, I can load a g-code program) via Notepad that comes up under the Edit G-code button.
But, I can't yet generate code or values from all the pretty buttons in the program.  I think I need a tutorial of sorts.
Any leads?

Thanks for any help.

Mr PV

There are video's o the web showing how to run Mach3 under support on the Mach home page. If you need anything we are here ;)

Brian--

Yes, I am in the process of looking at the videos on the site, starting w/ Screens, which seems like it (and the others) will be pretty helpful.
Are there other videos as well?

But there are two immediate problems I would like to solve, if possible.

1.  Early on, he (Art, I believe) gets a window with the MPG wheel.  For the life of me, I couldn't quite see how he did it!  But, I'm glad to know it exists.  :)     How do I get this wheel to appear?

2.  Clicking the Reset button does not clear the Emergency Stop condition.  Note that I am working off a just-downloaded version (1.84, iirc), but it is not running any hardware, if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Mr. PV

To get the jog settings press the " Tab" key (this is the thing with the MPG on it)

To get the reset to clear change the active low sate of the estop input under the ports and pins settings.

Thank you
