Title: Keyboard connectors
Post by: DaveDoesIT on August 06, 2008, 08:32:12 PM
Hey guys,

I am putting an older PC into service and i has the old 5-pin DIN plug.

Does anyone have a source of supply for either a converter cable Male 5-DIN to female 6-mini DIN or keyboards with the old 5-DIN plug on them.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Hi Bud,

Exactly.

Where can I get a few of those? I actually have 3 older PCs here all with the big 5-pin plug on the mobo.

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately I only have one and I was going to just send it to you but if you're looking for more, I haven't a clue where to get them. I have a bunch of older connectors/adapters but only one of these, sorry.

If you want this particular one, it's yours, just message me your address and it's on its way-   :)

If you do a google for PS2 to AT keyboard adapter you should find something.

Radio Shack used to sell them but last one I bought was several years ago and about $8! Better to search for old keyboards with the bigger plug, garage sales, fleamarkets usually have them for a buck.

Well, I got him covered for at least one of them. It's on it's way to him tomorrow-  ;)

Let me know when it gets there, Dave-  :)

Thanks Hood, Kristin and Dave,

Dave: thanks for the generous offer, much appreciated. I can reimburse postage if you wish, just include a return address.
Hood: I woke up this morning with that exact phrase to search on. found a bunch thanks.
Kristin: I had tried the local Thrift store but they only had complete PCs running ME !!! {gasp} and they wanted 100-bucks a piece. LOL Good luck with that. I'll check out the swap meet on Saturday. Good idea, I hadn't thought about there.

Thanks for your help.

Dave

Dave,

Not that Dave the other Dave? Well Dave if you can't find keyboards I can take a look through my junk pile and probably come up with one or two with the big din connectors. Yours for the cost of shipping.

Thanks Kristin,

I am just about to hit the swap meet in town.

Thanks for the keyboard offer, I might take you up on it as these other two PCs that have the big connector are not in line for use at any time soon. But I do have some other machines due for the CNC process eventually and I guess they will need keyboards or adapters.

This Dave. {grin}
