Title: ROUTER STOPPING DURING PROGRAM RUN
Post by: inivator on August 02, 2008, 11:57:35 AM
RUNNIG THE ATTACHED PROGRAM USING A 1/16" CARBIDE , THE ROUTER WILL STOP COMPLETELY.  PRIOR TO STOPPING I NOTICE THE HESITATION AT THE END OR BEGINNING OF THE ARCS.  IT GENERALLY HAPPENS ABOUT THE THIRD OR FORTH PASS.

I NEED SO DIRECTION.............PLEASE

Seems to run fine in simulation here, mill is busy at the moment so cant try it but will do soon.
Are there any error messages in the status window?
Does Mach stop or is it just your router?
Please attach your xml and I will have a look.

I ran your program on this computer (not attached to the machine) and it functioned perfectly, following the tool path display.

It seems to be the same cuttings at three (maybe four) different depths in five different locations (inner square, inner butterfly, inner butterfly, inner square, then outer  what looks like a doll on its side. Which pass are you saying it generally fails on.

I was going to say Mach download only does 500 lines, but that cannot be the reason, because you are well short of that. Is there anything mechanical causing your router to stop - are you going too deep, are you hitting any stops. When you say the router just stops, what does it do -
gradually slow down.
bounce about and stop.
just die. -

I cant see any reason without a bit more information.

What do you mean by the machine stops? are you meaning its only the router that is stopping and Mach is continueing to run?
If so then its a hardware issue you have, so check all connections properly.

I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE MACHINES STOPS FOR A MILISECOND AND THE START OF THE ARCS, THE RUNS FOR A SHORT TIME, THEN COMPLETELY STOPS.
THE ROUTER CONTINUES TO RUN.

NO JIM, THE MACHINE JUST QUITS OR DIES, AND THE RESET BUTTON IS ACTIVATED, BUT IT HITS NO LIMITS SWITCHES...  I CAN RESET, AND REHOME, AND START THE MACHINE AGAIN, IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP, NOT ALWAYS IN THE SAME PLACE OF SAME DEPTH..

You have noise on the limits, do you hasve them connected with shielded wire? Do you have the shielding connected to ground at the control end only?
If yes to above then try increasing the debounce to 2000 and see if it cures it, if it does then keep dropping the debounce until it happens again and then increase slightly.

NOT USING SHEILDED WIRE.  WILL INCREASE THE DEBOUNCE, AND SEE IT THAT HELPS.

THANKS FOR THE INFO AND HELP

Best to get your limits wired with shielded wire but debounce will let you know for sure its noise.

I agree- noise on the limit switch wires, or a faulty switch is the most probable cause -

If you are sure that you are nowhere near the limits with the program go to Config/Ports and Pins/ Inputs and cancel all the limit switch enables (you can leave the pin settings and keep the homes) and try a test run on that. If it works without stopping, then as Hood says, you have interference on the limit switch wiring.

We have similar kinds of places but eBay is often a good place to get it, you can often find a whole coil for less than the price of a couple of feet from a store. Make sure the core is not solid, get multistrand or after a while the vibration of the machine will crack the core and you will have nightmares.
