Title: 4th Axis Rotation Diameter setting for an ellispe
Post by: Lakeside design on July 19, 2008, 06:56:42 AM
What should you set the diameter setting when programming and ellipse on The 4th axis. Attached is a Jpeg of part and stock. Not quite sure if I want to use the largest cylindrical diameter or some thing in the middle? The questionable cut is the profile around part
Thanks,
Mike

It doesnt much matter.  The only thing the diameter does is set the rotational feedrate (if you have the feedrate option set in config>toolpath).  Pick the average dimension of the turned piece and just adjust the feedrate on the fly with the 'feedrate overide'.
