Title: Mach3 no motors running
Post by: AngelT on July 09, 2008, 02:18:08 PM
My Router table is homemade,Solsylva plans. It runs fine with Mach2 but not with Mach3....!!! Have no home or limit switches and no Estop. My PC is a dual core 3.40 Ghz, 1Gb Ram running on Windows XP. What could be the problem? Any ideas are welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

have you got the motors enabled and set to the correct port and pins?
Do the DROs move when you jog an axis?

The DRO's move. port is No. 1....pins are 3,5,7 for X,Y,Z and 2,4,6 for directions...I am using the defaults pins as in the manual. Remenber it does work with Mach2...thanks for the imput.

So I presume its the same pins you have when using Mach2?
Can you attach your xml for both Mach2 and Mach3. You will have to copy each of them to your desktop then rename them, suggest you call the AngelT2.xml and AngelT3.xml.

Finally "had" Mach3 running...the problem was the step pins and step ports were backward...ran for about 2 hours, went to lunch and when came back....you guess...Mach3 is not working, DRO's are not moving...double check the Motor outputs, they have not changed...going back to faithfull Mach2....!!!!
P.D. Hood, working on the XML files and send them to uou...thanks for you support.

Had a quick look and the only thing so far that I see is you have the motor pins (step and direction)  set to Active Low in Mach2 but in Mach3 you have them Active High.
One other thing you may want to try is setting the Step pulse to 5 on the motor tuning page.

The original problem was that the Port Pins and Dir Pins were interchanged...

The Port Pins and Dir Pins were interchanged: X 3-2  Y 5-4 Z 7-6
Corrected" X2-3 Y-4-5 Z6-7
