i got my smooth steper set up and all working fine
the problem is no matter what i do the motor keeps turning anticlockwise when told to move
G0 X150. (move anti clockwise)
G0 X0 (still moves anti clockwise)
the motor will not go back the way it goes it just keeps going in the one direction
what am i doing wrong i cant find any settings to adjust this
i tried reversing the wiring on the motor to see if it was that and it still did it
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP I CANT DO ANYTHING WITH MY MACHINE UNTIL IT IS FIXED :(

Are you sure that the DIR pin for X is toggling with the direction change ?
Does JOG properly ?
-
the dir from the breakout board is connected to the dir on the stepper driver board
i have just got the ss today and its moving fine and smooth it just doesnt go both ways it will only move anticlockwise
is there any settings in mach 3 i need to change?
-
Is this a new machine set-up, or was it running prior to installing the SS ?
Make sure the DIR pin is configured and wired correctly, verify that the voltage toggles HI to LOW during direction changes.
-
the machine is currently being made i was testing the stepper motor separate prior to adding it into the machine
its my first machine
its my first time using mach 3
and also my first time with the smooth stepper and stepper motors etc
im not sure what you mean by the setting of the direction
all i have on my boards are dir and dir on the motor board the wire connects these two
are you talking about in mach 3 its self if so can you navigate me to where i need to be please as there are millions of settings pages in mach 3
:)

i think i found it in ports and pins all the pin numbers are wrong compared to the numbers on the breakout board is this where it is messing up?
-
Quite possibly....Here is a clip from the "Quick Set-up Manual".
You can download the manuals.... they will walk you through the set-up procedure in very understandable depth and detail.
This is probably not a problem with the SS, If you cannot figure it out, I suggest that you post your problem in the "General Mach Discussion" category.
You'll be assured of getting the assistance that you need there.
MANY experienced users there, I'm a beginner.
Wish you luck,

i have got it sorted now
i had a wire fault between the two dir ports the wire had snapped in the middle and i couldnt see it through the sleething
i replaced the wire and it all works fine now
smooth stepper is ace! its better than running from the parallel as it makes my motor sound quieter and is spot on!
thanks for your help on this at least i know where the setup guide is now :)
