Title: Running LazyCAM
Post by: DaveDoesIT on June 22, 2008, 02:06:53 PM
Hi,

I have the latest stable Mach3 installed but when I click the "Lazycam" item in the File menu it says Lazycam can't be found. I downloaded it and let it install wherever it wanted but still Mach3 says it ain't there.

I have searched the setup options and cannot find where to put a link to Lazycam so it will launch from the Mach3 File menu.

Appreciate a heads up on this.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Should be installed to C:/Mach3. Is that where you have Mach3 installed?

DUH, well that's pretty stupid of Mach3. No, c:\mach3 is not where it is installed. I had to option to put it in a selected folder during the install and I did so in the Program Files with everything else I have on this computer.

Since I was given the option during both the installs of Mach3 AND LazyCAM, I used that option.

If Mach3 is expecting LazyCAM in the c:\mach3 folder or it tosses an error, that is like harking back to the dark old days of DOS!

I have been a programmer since 1976 and this is pretty basic user interface stuff. Surely if Mach3 has a "Launch" for LazyCAM then the execute path should be made as a Registry entry during install. When I click the "Launch LazyCAM" menu option, Mach3 should look for where it is installed and NOT just blindly assume it is in the Mach3 install folder. If it has to go int there then remove the option in the install.

But, hey, maybe I am wrong with this thinking???? <gasp>

Anyway, thanks to all who replied.
