I need a half sized parallel port add in PCI card and before I bought one, I thought I'd ask if there was a specific brand that I should use for adding I/O's?
Are they all pretty much the same?
Thanks as always - :)

budman68, I have standardized on http://cgi.ebay.com/NetMos-1-Port-Single-Parallel-Port-PCI-32-bit-Card_W0QQitemZ370054469871 which are very reliable in my experience, both with TurboCNC and Mach. I have usually used them in full-height PCI bays, but have one for my new lathe iin a Dell SFF desktop, for which I cut down the bracket for its "half-height" PCI slot. (No connection at all with the seller, other than being a satisfied customer.)
Best regards,
Randy

Thanks very much, Randy, I will give one of those a shot. I appreciate your input - :)

Randy,
Did you have any problems setting it up? I have one and XP Pro says it is set up OK, Mach Driver Test says all is OK but the machine does not seem to want to work. Did you have to set up any IRQ's in the desktop BIOS?
Thanks,
Steve (New to Mach)

Steve, have you put the correct address in Mach for your port?
Hood

Probably not but I will have to wait for any more testing. After talking to Teck Support for my mill and looking at other issues I had to ship the Tower back to them for repairs. When it gets back I have the feeling that it will work OK. Not much I can do till then.
Thanks,
Steve

No driver or IRQ settings, Steve, but Hood is right. Check the address in Device Manager. Both the NetMos cards I currently have show up as df08.

Thanks Randy. I will look at the software tomorrow.

OK.. I am back in town now. I still don't have the Control Tower for my mill as it is being repaired at Legacy.
I checked the device address is the XP Control panel and it shows:
EC00-EC07
E880-E887
So this means I need to set the port address in Mach>Config>Ports and Pins>Port1.. Address to 0xec00 = Correct?
Thanks,
Steve

Yes thats correct.

Steve,
Yes, just and as Hood said, but, if the first address dosen't work try the second one. On my new PC
that's what i had to do as the first address just wouldn't take in Mach.
