Here's my latest work out of my home made CNC router. The fuselage is a 1:7,5 scale fibreglass shell of an Agusta 109. I designed and milled the mechanics and internal structure. The aluminium parts were milled from 6082-T6 and 7075-T6 aluminium. The swash plate and the blade grips are plastic parts that I bought or had on hand. I might mill new and more scale like parts from aluminium later on. The main rotor blades and the rotor head button were milled from oak. I used 3D milling for the oak parts and the aluminium tail rotor hub.
It's not finished yet, but it's flyable. I have hovered it. :)

I'll make a video of it soon. I can post a link to it here if you'd like to see it. :)
Mach 3 is great, and I can't believe I spent all those years in the hobby without a CNC router!
-
Sure you can. Please do post a link.
Yes it is. :)

Here's a little video of a test flight last week. I'm testing out different control settings so it's not a smooth flight. Every time I land I change something in the tansmitter. It almost tipped over on the last flight and I had to save it. :)

Wow!! What an impressive work! Really liked it!
I rarely visit the forum, mostly on the yahoo group... I think I have to visit here more frequently ;-)
The video is great!
Could you give some details on how did you machined the head button please? I mean it's machined from two sides...
And how about the rotor base? How many operations did it require?
Thank you for sharing!
Daniel
P.S.
Snow in May? Where are you located?

Very impressive! This pilot/mechanic/NC machinist/NC programmer/electronic technician/ etc., etc., is building his own helicopter....all the more impressive.
Beautiful work.

Nedless to say he built his own router also. He lives some 40 miles from me, but I don't know him.
