Title: How to get started
Post by: fkaufman on March 03, 2008, 04:33:31 PM
I have recently inherited a Sherline 5400 series mini-mill that was converted to CNC using a Camtronics board and 3 servo-motors.  It came with a really old DOS based computer that has DESKNCRT V1.0 software installed on it.  This setup is working, however I have no documentation on it whatsoever.

My inclination is to convert the setup to a Windows based system, as parallel ports are still available on the newer motherboards.  Can I use Mach3 for this system?  What do I need to download and install?

Can you fellows possibly point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Frank

As long as the Camtronics board is step and direction driven then all you will need is the mach3 software and a bit of time to work out the pin connections.

All the guys here will help out with any questions you may have.

Graham.
