Title: want some simple circuit to test mach3 with a small step motor?
Post by: avengine on May 04, 2006, 10:12:04 PM
I just buy one step motor: oriental motor PK244-02BA with 6 wire DC
0.8A 7.5ohm 2 phase and a ic MC3479P stepped motor driver,
would like to know is there some simple circuit I can build and test
the step motor from the pc?
this 2 items cost me $12 but I think is the good start to learn
something new.
thanks

HI, wheel if you have a solid electronics background then you have everything you need to get started. I just looked at the data sheet and you don't need much else.
http://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC3479-D.PDF

motor
Driver IC
parallel port
power supply
1 resistor (for current set)
Mach3 and a bread board.
wire

If you don't have an electronics background then i would recommend purchasing a small pre built stepper driver board, hooking that to the parallel port and get acquainted with things that way. I always end up spending more time building things that i should have just bought ;)

any small pre-build board that mach3 can use and talk thru it? any link?
thanks
