Title: X Weirdness
Post by: chrispol on February 11, 2008, 01:22:55 PM
Ok I am running a gantry system 4 800oz motors and 4 gecko 203v's, rack and pinion gear reduction via timing belts on all axis, recently the machine stopped cutting round circles, there is no backlash, but if i cut a 4x4 square my x=4" and my y=3.98 it's always off by 0.02 so i figure i can't be missing steps because it's always 0.02 i tried increasing the amount of steps but then i end up hitting my x limit on a tool change, which is weird, because i thought if i increased the steps then reset everything and homed if i move 10 inches left then right the same amount of steps should be sent.....

Well seems mdf dust + linear bearing + grease = glue !

Unliked my drive unit from the x axis and couldn't move the motor, ripped it all apart glued bearings!

ugh!
