Title: Anybody notice that Limit Switch Trigger "De-References" Machine?
Post by: sshneider on December 21, 2007, 08:28:06 PM
I'm Runing Ver 2.61.  Between parts I'll drag out the shop vac and clean up the table.  Somehow while wrestling with the hose I'll trigger a limit switch. No Biggie- I hit reset and all is OK except I get a "abnormal condition" alert= Machine axis not referenced.  I already referenced.  Is this just me?  If not, anybody know a 'workaround'?

Thanks in advance for any/all replies.

Oh, BTW- Happy Kwanza!

Hey Sid, Do you think it is a static shock throwing the limit and causing your troubles. I haven't seen that message. If I hit a limit that puts Mach in a reset condition, I would rehome regardless. Any time a limit is triggered, it is allways a good idea to rehome. This is true even in the large industrial CNCs.

Merry Christmas,
Brett

Hey Brett,

Thanks for the reply.  Don't think it's a static problemas this issue has just surfaced recently (in conjunction with one of the recent updates).

I agree with you though- I rehome frequently through the course of the day but, it's just a bit of weirdness that I was wondering about.  Clicking the Reset button does not cause this- just triggering a limit switch.

... things that make you go "HUH?"

I think it is normal when a limit is triggered that Mach will lose its reference. If you think about it when a limit is hit Mach will cut everything but momentum could make the axis travel a bit more before it stops. Mach has no way of knowing where that axis now is so it tells you its not referenced. I am not at a machine now so I cant say 100% this is the case but 99% sure this has always been.

Hmmm...  I think you are right.  It's kind of a forced reminder to re-ref your axes.  It's just wierd that I can't remember it ever doing that before (maybe I never noticed  ::) )

If every thing is as it should be then double click the Abnormal Condition button then click Yes and it wont flash again unless something changes.

Don't know if this helps at all...
I tend to hit the STOP button before trying to hoover out my machine just in case I hit the limit switches. That way it doesn't reset the system and I don't have to re-reference.
