Title: About Spindle Control ?
Post by: Overloaded on December 12, 2007, 03:28:17 PM
Hello All,
I'm new at this so please don't LOL.    :D
Right now I have a 1/2 hp 110v motor running the lathe spindle, speed change by step pulleys.
I have a Reliance 1 hp DC PM motor with a control box that has a pot for speed adjustment.
Can Mach be connected to the three pot terminals in such a way as to have PWM control the rpm of the DC motor  ?
Like I said, no laughing.   :-\

what is the voltage to your controller, ie does the pot put 10V when fully open.
I think there are a few devices that Mach can control for spindle speed, PeterHomann does one and I think some of the breakout boards also have them onboard now.

I'll hook one up and check, then get back to you.
Thanks Hood

cnc4pc actually has a Mach controlled spindle board that has a little servo that turns your Pot for you depending on speed requested......heheheh

Hood,
Looks like 14.8 V.
I'll check with Mr.Duncan, see if his C6 board will work for me.

Thanks
