bridgeport with ball screws & servos.
cutting outside of circle and getting small line segments rather than a smooth circle. have cut fast & slow.
The x&y were SO close in the tuning that I made them identical thinking that was the problem. NOPE.
The computer is bare/clean as per artsoft instructions.
You can watch the screws go & stop, go and stop... any ideas?

What is your code like? ie is it hand written, CAM generated or wizard generated?

Is it running in Exact stop mode or Constant velocity?

code is corel->sheetcam->mach 3 current.

OK sounds like you actually have lots of small segmented lines rather than arcs. Use the circle cutting wizard as a test to see if its smooth.

hmm, thanks! cutting air I can see it's not stoping & going. smooth, then reverse. now need to figure out where the lines came from. looks like a circle in sheetcam

I think the drawing you are importing needs to be treated in a particular way, not sure as I dont use any of these programmes but seem to remember seeing people on the forum talking about having to explode there drawings, maybe a search for explode will bring you results or even better someone who knows what they are talking about might jump in :D

I converted circles to "curves" in corel, they showed as round squares in sheetcam...so I exported to .emf and it looks good on screen, but choppy on execution.

In some cam packages you can Arc Fit line segments.

Your problem is Corel, it treats circles as splines, everybody seems to have the same problem with it. The only way round it is to drop Corel DXF file into something like Bob-Cad or Alphacam, they can convert it.
