Title: new user - help...Homeing
Post by: RoboProbe on December 05, 2007, 12:41:29 PM
Just started using Mach 3 with a Romaxx CNC.  Having problems and not sure what I did.  here is the error message:

Requested home axis home switch is active..please fix, then home..

Seems like no matter what I do, I cant seem to fix the problem (probably because I'm clueless)....

Please help!

Do you have limit switches fitted? if yes go to the diagnostics page and see if the LEDs are lit and for which axis. It could be a bad connection or broken wire in your limit.

I don't think these machines have limit or home switches (may of course be wrong) so I suspect you've messed with ports n pins/inputs and made the system think it has home switches and that at least one is active. The message is what you get if you try to home and a home switch is stuck active. That said don't Romaxx give you an XML file? you could just copy that off your CD and all should be as when you started.

It is just what the message says. You are asking the machine to home to a homeswitch. The machine looks at the homeswitch, buts says "the switch is ON so I must be there" . One assumes you either have home switches fitted, or you have fitted them yourself, so the switch you are asking the machine to home to is already on.

If you look at the Diagnostics page, you will see the home switch LED is lit ( usually yellow). Find it in the ports and pins section and look at Active low. If it is off, the tick it, if it is ticked then untick it. Look back at the Diagnostics page and the LED should have gone out. THERE SHOULD BE NO LEDS LIT WHILST THE MACHINE IS RUNNING.

It cannot be doubled with a limit switch or the "E stop" would keep firing.
