Title: File Association ?
Post by: Overloaded on November 18, 2007, 05:54:31 PM
When attempting to download attachments from the posts, I get a "Windows File Association... Unknown File Type".
I went to "Folder Options" but am unclear as to what to do from there.
Can anyone help ?
(my 1st PC)
Thanks

Oops just noticed you are new to PCs so if you dont know what I am meaning when I said the extension, it is the  letters after the . (dot) that we need to know ie Mach3.xml (file extension is xml)  or Screen4.exe (file extension is exe)

ok you just need to open it either in Mach by going to the view tab then load screens and browse to the file you downloaded or you can go to Mach3 folder and open Screen4.exe and browse to the file you downloaded.

OKEE DOKEE, that works.
But... it's a Profile Shapes Wizard and it looks like I cannot open it without the license. (coming soon)
Thanks Hood

If its a wizard then place it in the C:\Mach3\Addons folder and you should then be able to start Mach3 and see it by going to the wizards tab.

Hood,
It's in the add-on folder but not in any of the Mach Wizard tabs.
When I try to open the file from the folder, I get a small pop-up window:

                      Mach4                                                   X

Corrupt install, no license file found. Aborting

Then the agreement window, which is blank.
Then a Mach screen that is also blank.
I guess I need the license file.
Thanks

Thanks, I just downloaded and unzipped it to C:\Mach3\Addons
When you go to the addons folder you should now see a folder called Profile Shapes and within that folder there should be 2 files, one called Profile Shape Wizard.set and the other Profile Shape Wizard.set.def.
You should then be able to open the wizard from Mach.

If you still cant let me know and I will remove my license and see what happens here.

Yep..same here.
The files are there but when I try to open them I get the "Abort" pop-up mentioned earlier.
I plan to get the license this week. If you don't mind, try it with your license off, just curious.
Thanks

Works fine for me with when I remove the license, maybe you should try downloading it  and unzipping it again.

Did...3 times...all the same.

"Corrupt install, no license file found. Aborting"

That's what I get every time.

No biggie, I'll see what happens after I'm licensed.

Maybe your system still sees your license even though you removed it.

Thanks Hood

Nope, its definitely not seeing my license as I looked and it shows it as an unlicensed copy.
Hope it works when you get a license but if not then let me know and I will try and find out why.
