Hi Guys:
Well, its slowly taking shape.. Im using a webcan and a laser pointer, with a new plugin called VideoProbe.
Here is the first point cloud. ( Rememebr its early. :) , I just thought youd like to see the first scan.
It was taken in about 15-20 seconds, at about 4.5Million points per hour. Still rough, but I have yet to play some
math tricks to see if I can stabilise the outliers and average the readings for accuracy. Cool for a 20 second scan though..

so Art,
Is the idea with this to be able to only probe? Or is there any ideas to have it so you can completely position the mill as well? Dont get me wrong I think this is awesome...I was just curious on the latter though.
Thanks

Dan:
Theres already a plugin for positioning with a webcam, this plugin is just meant to allow video probing to copy a design or something..
Look at the heand I just posted, itd be hard to do that without video probeing, a real probe woudl take hours to do it, the hand took 30 seconds.

Hi Art,
How dark do you have the room when you do your scans? I see where David needs almost a dark room while the NextEngine scanner appears to be doing it's job in almost normal room light. The NextEngine does seem to be in subdued lighting.
Thanks and great work,
Greg
