Title: Can't move Z Axis in positive direction
Post by: SROPLASMA on January 24, 2023, 08:18:49 PM
Hi there,
I am working on setting up Mach 3 on a 3 axis plasma cutter.  Everything is working fine except for the Z axis.  It will only move in the negative direction.  This includes both jogging and MDI moves.  The X and Y axes work fine in both directions.  Soft limits are temporarily set to 0 min and 0 max for all three axes so I don't think that is the problem.  I have tried two different stepper drivers and two different stepper motors on the Z with no luck.  Could I be missing something in the configurations?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Steve

To clarify, if the motor coil wiring is swapped, the Z axis will only move in the up direction.

This problem can be caused by either the direction connection to the driver missing or possibly the direction signal pulse edge timing relative to the step pulse being wrong.

Thanks for the response.  Hardware issue.  I tried a third stepper controller and that worked.  Thanks again.

Excellent.
