Title: PWM laser control

So I purchased a small laser attachment from china, it has a plug with 3 wire attachment which is labeled PVV,GND,PWM. The power is 12 volts dc to terminals PVV and GND.  my break out board probably would use terminals 1 and 17 from what I read elsewhere. So my question is will I be able to tie the ground from the breakout board to the same ground of the laser power supply and attach BB terminal 17 to PWM? Thanks for any help!
