Title: Faind Z
Post by: Toshio.K on July 31, 2021, 05:14:34 AM
When I click "Faind Z" to measure the Z axis, after the probe touches the workpiece, it looks like the picture and Mach4 stops.

Please tell me the solution.

The alert "ESS: Homing of axis completed successfully" pop out when probe hit work piece?

Hello.
When the probe touches the work piece, nothing is displayed in the red frame.

Hi, you work with inches?
If you touch with hand the probe tip the probe led work as it suppose?
With G31 the probe led must turned on, not probe1 or probe2. Make sure at configure/control/inputs/probe is set the input of your controller.

Hello.
I have confirmed now.
I set it as shown in the picture.
-For the probe, a switch is connected to the input terminal (probe) and the probe is operated by turning it on and off.

-The unit is mm.

・ Please see the photo. The two LEDs turn on as shown in the red frame.

-I confirmed the controller input with configure / control / input / probe. Please look at the photo.

I'm passing, but I'm currently using Nach4 DEMO.
Is this the cause?

No, demo shouldn't affect the use.

Change the settings/options at TouchOff UI to metric units like Retract Distance if is 0.1 do it 5 and Prep. Distance 0.5 to 15

Are you sure your probe work ok?
Is homemade/DIY?

Thank you.

> Distance 0.5 ~ 15

Is it okay to change the red frame in the photo?
I set the inside of the red frame to 0.5, but the problem is not solved.

It's DIY.

That's the distance when probe hit material will lift away. Means that will retract 0.5mm, i would had this more like 5mm if is for simple height measure or z offset.

If you can, try with simple cables in probe input of your controller and simulate the probe movement, if it work means that is probe problem and not software (Mach4).

Thank you.
I'm using MB3.
Please tell me the solution in this case.

MB3 is the controller? I am not familiar with this one..

MB3 is BOB.
It is sold at CNC Room in Thailand.

This is an instruction manual.

I am sorry, i can't help you with that. You should ask someone/somewhere who knows about that board (MB3).

I understand.
I will also ask the place of purchase.

Please look at the photo.
This is the case for Mach3.
It is displayed as GROUND PRO BE.
Please tell me the meaning.

This usually means that the probe is triggered. Your probe input send to Mach3/4 that probe hit the material when it shouldn't and that why you get the alarm.

I think MB3 is normal, but is my circuit wrong?

Where you found that circuit?
I can't say if is wrong or right but first time i see two GND to a sensor and a electrolytic capacitor not connected to +V.

Resistors and ceramic capacitors prevent chattering.
Even excluding resistors and ceramic capacitors, it still says "GROUND PROBE".

Yes, i understand why are there but i don't see where the + at the capacitor to work for that. I am not an electronic so don't listen to me :).
I hope some one else know more about that and help you.

I am almost sure that MACH4 is not your problem here.

I am new to Mach4.
In the case of Mach3, I wrote a script to the button of Aou To Zero and it worked. Does Mach4 work without writing a script?

You can write a button script, a module with lua to work with.

If you use the built in module for probe moves no need to change anything, you only put the settings for your machine.

There was a video of how to use Touch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA49atQNzmg
Mach4 has become convenient because you can measure height etc. with the push of one button! !!

However, the Grond Probe may be a BOB or ESS failure.
I bought USS about 5 years ago, but it was out of order from the beginning.

Hi Toshio,

As you told me, you posted your question here and on the Warp9Tech forum as well. Here I found a solution to your problem.

First, for input X203, you need to set port 2 and pin 3 for the probe signal.
Second, for input connection, you don't need to add extra electronics components.

Thanks,

Hello.
Are you Andy?
I saw the email from you.
Removing the resistors and capacitors does not change the result.
that's all.
Please send a replacement to my home as soon as possible.

Answer Hello Weerasak.
Thank you.
Mach3 is now normal.

However, for Mach4DEMO, Touch Z is not normal.
Does not measure height.
Please look at the photo.
