Title: Hercus PC 200 CNC lathe retrofit
Post by: Viking man on October 08, 2007, 06:48:31 PM
We have a Hercus PC 200 CNC lathe that is not working, it loses home.  It has 8 position tool turret and uses servo motors with I believe Hewlet Packard HEDs encoders.  I would like to convert it to to run under mach 3.  Is it a good idea or leave it as is and have it repaired?

To have it repaired is a major pain in the neck as it is made in Australia, a traveling repair person goes across the U.S. and have to get on his schedule. :(
Mach 3 would be a much better interface. :)  Thanks!!

It could be done.. you need to have a look at the servo drives from Gecko and CNCTeknix. Setting up the amps and wiring the machine is the hardest part of that project :(

Thanks
Brian
